Herb Lester vintage-style Paris Map by Lord Dunsby

Paris

We have featured the vintage-syle Herb Lester city maps in the past, but we think It's Nice To Be Alone In Paris is the best one yet.

For a start, it's by one of our favourite illustrators, Lord Dunsby and also, because it's about Paris, one of our favourite city to spends days wandering around. This map flags up some pretty leftfield things to do as well, 32 in total, including a taxidermist extraordinaire, mint tea at the Grand Mosque, found photographs at Images & Portraits, along with places to eat, swim, drink, buy vintage 'gentlemen's imagery' and enjoy a solitary ice cream. In short, something for everyone.

It's an A3 (297x420mm) map, folded to A6 (105x148mm) and litho printed on recycled paper. As ever, ridiculously cheap at just £3.

London Buildings: An Architectural Tour book by Robin Farquhar and Hannah Dipper

London

They are the folk behind People Will Always Need Plates, a company we have featured regularly in the past. But soon, Robin Farquhar and Hannah Dipper will offer those distinctive designs in book form, courtesy of London Buildings: An Architectural Tour.

Published by Batsford, the book will offer 45 illustrations of London’s best buildings, from Sir Christopher Wren’s 1675 Greenwich Royal Observatory to Richard Rogers’ 2000 Montevetro development, taking in the 19th-century Victoria and Albert Museum, 20s modernist masterpieces such as the Isokon Building and concrete Brutalist icons like the National Theatre and Trellick Tower.

Throw in some all-new images produced just for the book and some words describing just why the authors love the buildings they depict and it should be a winner. Published in August, but available for pre-order now, the book is priced at  £8.99.

Ingela city prints from Lagom

Ingela Paris

Ingela Arrhenius has been a frequent visitor on this site recently, from her alphabet print to her dish cloths design. However, how can we resist showing you more when she keeps coming up with designs as attractive as these city prints, available from Lagom?

She's produced prints, illustrating the delights of three of our favourite European cities. Each shows some of the city's landmarks and unique charms, as seen through the eyes of a Swedish illustrator and executed in her retro style. The baguettes, macaroons and Mona Lisa of Paris is shown in the print above, while you can check out London's pubs, punks and city gents over the page. The third city? Some Swedish style courtesy of Stockholm.

Each print is limited to 200 and cost £45.

London Bus cushion cover by Christine Berrie

London-bus-3

Christine Berrie has already turned her talents to illustrating vintage radios and cameras, so it was perhaps only natural that she'd also feature another retro icon – the Routemaster – shown here on her London Bus cushion cover.

It's a simple, lovingly rendered design that's printed onto a cotton cushion cover that should go down well with people who fondly remember this method of transport. Grab a cushion pad and you could use the design to make your own commute to work that bit more comfortable and stylish.

Prices start at 19.99 euros.

A-Z poster by Ingela Arrhenius

Ingela atoz

Ingela Arrhenius has been busy. It was only earlier in the week that we featured her retro dish cloth designs. This A-Z Poster offers a more conventional way to showcase her art.

It uses the traditional A-Z format, running from Apple to Zebra, all executed in her distinctive retro style. The vignettes are charming in themselves (I'm especially fond of the 'M' which looks like a 'Moon landing') but also look great together as an overall piece of art. Perfect for a very stylish kids room.

The poster is sold unframed and costs 23 euros.
