Brian Wildsmith Liberty Art Fabric

  LIBERTY

Liberty’s new season fabric collection features this rather lovely collaboration between the Liberty Design Studio and award-winning children’s illustrator Brian Wildsmith.

The collaboration draws on Liberty’s heritage, revisiting a relationship between shop and artist which dates back to the 1950’s. The design features pastel biplanes and jets and combines an original illustration from Wildsmith’s ‘The Amazing World of Words’, with Liberty menswear prints.

The fabric is 100% cotton and would lend itself to all sorts of creative projects.
It’s available both in-store and online and is priced at £19.95 per metre.

Vicky Scott Retro-Inspired Prints

Normal_60_s_chick
Illustrator Vicky Scott does a nice line in retro-inspired prints, such as this one, 60s Chick.

Not in the same league by any means as the Shag illustrations, but also not in the same price range as those either, Vicky’s designs offer retro artwork at affordable prices. She lists her influences as 1920s art deco, 60s psychedelia and Art Noveau, which sounds good to me. Her designs are created as handmade paper collages, which are scanned before being printed onto high quality archival paper. Prices start at £25 for small prints. View her collection at her store on Not on the High Street.

Ingela P Arrhenius nesting circus dolls

Ingela-arrhenius-nesting-circus-dolls
We've previously shown you the retro-style artwork of Ingela P Arrhenius and here, with this set of nesting circus dolls, her colourful designs are translated into 3D.

The set is a new take on Russian nesting dolls with five figures that each fit inside each other. The difference here is that they're all based on circus characters – including the lion tamer, the lion and the clown – from one of her prints. Made from wood, the resulting toy has a very traditional feel and is almost too nice to hand over to the kids.

Each set costs £18.95.

Black Cabs cushion by Lizzie Allen

Lizzie allen cushion
We’ve written about Lizzie Allen‘s beautiful wallpapers many times before. For a more affordable way to buy a piece of her style, you may be interested in this Black Cabs cushion.

Like her wallpaper, the cushion textile is decorated with a 1950s-style illustration of a traditional British scene. In this case we are taken to the streets of a rainy London and, as well as the black cab of the title, there’s a red number 8 Routemaster going by.

Made from 100% cotton, though it’s more affordable than her wallpaper it’s still not cheap at £79.
