1950s-style Shelf tape by Kathryn Dale

Shelf tape

Cast your mind back a couple of months and you may remember the London souvenir badge from Shelf. This Shelf tape, designed by Kathryn Dale, is another example of their products.

It's a retro-styled scene of a slinky cat prowling a mantelpiece, causing some chaos amidst the books, dominoes and clock. The colour scheme of pinks and browns reinforces the 1950s feel.

The tape costs £6 and is a perfect way to add style to your packages or perhaps even your own shelf.

Yellena James for Schoolhouse Electric Co. shades

Her naturally inspired designs have been used across three shapes of shades. They're available etched on clear glass or reproduced as a charcoal, green or multi-colour illustration, on a milky-white shade. The results are unusual and unique looking pieces and offer a subtle way to introduce a vintage feel to a room.

Paul Thurlby Alphabet prints

Thurlby alphabet

Illustrator Paul Thurlby has put together an alternative alphabet, each letter (and print) representing a different word. So, 'I' for example, shows a beautiful hula girl on a palm tree bedecked island and the letter 'R' has been used to form a cute rabbit. The illustrations have a wonderful retro feel and draw inspiration from lots of different sources from pulp novels to transport posters (as in the 'S' and 'U' images shown above).

The images are available as 12 inch by 9 inch giclee print for £27 each. At the moment there's a buy two and get a third one for free deal on the website, making them ideal presents for all those Toms, Dans and Sues you may have in your life. Delivery is 2 to 3 weeks within the UK so, if you are thinking of getting them as Christmas presents, move quickly!

London Print by Jim Datz

Datz London

Jim Datz's fantastic Brooklyn poster was featured a little while back. The good news for fans of his 1950s style illustration is that the people at Pedlars have persuaded him to turn his hand to working up a London print.

It's a quirky take on the capital but features all the districts you'd expect, from Soho to Camden to Shoreditch and Brick Lane as well as the compulsory London bus and a black cab.

If you like it, you'll need to be quick as this edition is limited to 400 prints. They come mounted and framed in either black or white and cost £175.
