Ivylook

If you have an interest in classic men's fashion of the mid-50s to the mid-60s, you might want to check out The Ivy Look by Graham Marsh and JP Gaul.

Pitched as 'an illustrated pocket guide', it's part heritage and part style guide for the ivy league look, dominant some 50 years back but still with a timeless appeal in the modern era for many.

The book is out now, but you can read a full review over at our His Knibs site.

1960s Take Ivy book by Teruyoshi Hayashida reissued by Powerhouse

Takeivy

An interesting book from 40+ years ago is getting a reissue very soon – Take Ivy by Teruyoshi Hayashida.

Originally released in Japan in 1965 (and sought after since by collectors of the style), the book is a unique collection of photos of Ivy League students and as such, a superb reference guide to the Ivy look in its prime over the 142 pages within.

Back then, it kicked off an Ivy obsession in Japan and as the look is very much back in 2010, it might well do brisk business this year too. You can pick up Take Ivy from 14th October, with Amazon doing discounted pre-orders of the hardback book for at £11.69.

Burnside Sweat Cardigan by Duffer of St George

Duffer

Yes, Duffer of St George is still out there and if you dig deep enough, still making interesting items too – like the Burnside Sweat Cardigan.

Inspired by the preppy, collegiate look, these vintage-style knits offer up that large college-style badge, chunky buttons, slants pockets and of course, the most obvious selling point, that 'shawl' collar.

Not too expensive either. £44.99 is the price and you should be able to find them at JD Sports online.
