Felix Rise and Fall retro ceiling light at John Lewis

Felix

Look familiar? Well, to us it looks not unlike the classic Louis Poulsen PH lamp, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and comes with a hefty price tag. The Felix Rise and Fall ceiling light is a little more affordable.

It's very much in the same style, those individual shades offering up glare-free light, but with that handle and 'Rise and Fall' mechanism, you can bring the light just a little bit closer when you need it.

The shade is a black-painted metal, the detailing chrome and you cna user it as a dimmable light. Price? That's £120.

John Lewis Retro DAB radio

Johnlewis_retro

We have featured specialist John Lewis-branded DAB radios in the past (the bedside DAB and the kitchen DAB to be specific), but the John Lewis Retro DAB radio is an all-rounder, complete with a budget price.

Retro by name and retro by design, an understated glossy case with metal grill, reminiscent of radios from a bygone age. But obviously with that very modern DAB digital radio reception, along with 20 presets, FM reception, a built-in clock and the option of battery or mains power.

Cheap enough at £29.95.

Original BTC vintage-style Task floor lamp

Btc

We have featured a few Original BTC lights in the past, but the Task floor lamp is up there with the best of them. Quite literally.

Standing tall at 130cm high and designed (like all in the range) by Peter Bowles, this classic light has a spun aluminium head, chromed steel base and black satin finish, while the functionality allows you to adjust the direction of the light to pretty much anywhere.

Classic looks, very useful – what's not to like? If you want one, they sell for £320 online. Or if you want something similar, but smaller, there's also a Task table lamp.

Sanderson’s William Morris wallpaper designs at John Lewis

Morris

If your take on retro design is something a little older than the latter part of the 20th century, you might appreciate the Sanderson's William Morris wallpaper designs at John Lewis.

Sanderson (which is currently hosting an exhibition of its work) has reprinted some classic William Morris designs from the arts and crafts era, specifically from the late 19th century, offering a number of designs inspired by nature. But most importantly, designs that are still eye-catching and interesting today.

The William Morris Fruit pattern above is just one example and like all in the range, is made to order and comes in a width of 52cm and a length of 10.5m. Each roll retails for £45.
