Ingo Maurer-inspired Watt table lamp at John Lewis
One of the first things we ever wrote about back in 2006 was (and still is) one of our favourite designs – the Ingo Maurer Bulb table lamp. Price, as with most design classics, was the main issue. Not so this new design inspired by that 1960s gem – the Watt table lamp at John Lewis.

Not one of our finds, this is credited to Andrew Graham, who spotted this Guzzini Baobab lamp by Ufficio Progetti despite its misleading title.
eBay watch: Large 1960s Glo floor lamp
As a rule, we only tend to feature eBay items with a relatively low starting price, unless the item is particularly distinctive. We're classing this large 1960s Glo floor lamp as one of those exceptions.
It's a wonderful space age design, probably from the 60s, but possibly sneaking into the early 1970s. According to the seller, it was designed by 'H.TH.J.A. Busquet for Hala, Zeist, Netherlands', with the label still on the lamp.
Standing around 90cm tall, the ball rests on a lacquered steel tube stand, with all the electrics said to have been checked and in 'perfect working order'. Condition is apparently 'wonderful' too. £339 is the price – not cheap, but we don't think you'll see another for some time.
eBay watch: 1970s Guzzini Clan table lamp by Studio 6G
I've seen the larger versions of this Guzzini Clan table lamp on offer for seriously high prices. So right now, this one is something of a bargain.
The work of the company's in-house Studio 6G design team and produced from 1968 through to 1977, this is the larger version of the lamp, large enough to be used as a floor lamp if you wish, with a height of 51cm and a diameter of 46cm.
