Spin seating from Designers Guild

Spin-furniture-main

The new collection from Designers Guild includes this retro-influenced Spin seating range.

The range is inspired by the shape of furniture in the 1950s and '60s and includes a chair and a two or three seater sofa, as pictured. Each item has a curved buttoned back and is given an added retro feel by those long tapered wooden legs. They are available upholstered in any one of the Designers Guild fabric, or in a choice of over 40 colours of leather.

Milton Storage Unit from Laura Ashley

Milton
If you associate Laura Ashley with country florals and shabby chic, this Milton storage unit will come as as a bit of a surprise. Rather than reflecting those two styles, this has got more of a mid-century look with a contemporary twist.

The unit is made from solid oak and is divided into several compartments, including five drawers and two cupboards, creating plenty of space for storage as well as an unusual looking piece. The retro feel is enhanced by the olive and cream coloured doors to the cupboards and fronts to the drawer.

Some serious storage and a fairly serious price tag attached too. The unit costs £900.

Deco-style Starburst range at Next

Starburst range

If you're looking to add some retro glamour to your home and don't want to spend a small fortune, you may want to take a look at the Starburst range at Next

The range takes its cue from the Art Deco movement, with lots of mirrored surfaces and sharp lines, and succeeds in creating some unusual pieces, such as the angular side table and the wall-mounted console pictured above. They've even got some starburst mirrors to help top off the look.

For an idea of prices, the side table costs for £90, while the wall console retails for £250.

Tattoo cushions from Dwell

Dwell tattoo cushions

We've seen retro-style tattoos adorning everything from rugs to dish cloths, as well as the body, and it continues with these tattoo cushions from Dwell

Both cushions use typical tattoo motifs: one shows a pierced heart with a blank banner while the other is decorated with a classic rose dedicated to 'Mom'. The slightly annoying Americanism aside, these cushions are a subtler take on the trend with the illustrations marked out in simple red and black against the plain white of the cotton.

Each cushion costs £19.95.
