Classic design in print: Mid-century Modern gift sets by Thames & Hudson
These actually came out a few weeks ago but somehow we missed them. That’s surprising seeing as one of our contributors actually did the text for these Mid-century Modern gift sets by Thames & Hudson. Read more
Mid-Century Modern Christmas Cards
For those determined to have an entirely retro Christmas, Etsy seller dodelinedesign has some great Christmas cards designs, with my favourite being the Mid-Century Modern Christmas Cards.
These cards features a pile of classic chairs (it looks like an Eames design), stacked on top of one another in a Christmas tree formation and topped with a simple red star. You can buy an individual card for around £1.90, or buy in packs of 8 or 20 to save some money, which are priced just under £10 and around £18 respectively.
Buy them online at Etsy.
Handcrafted Modern by Leslie Williamson
Looking for some interiors inspiration? A flick through the 200-plus pages of Handcrafted Modern by Leslie Williamson should give you some ideas. As implied by its subtitle, 'At home with mid-century designers', these are directly drawn from the homes of some of our best loved designers.
In this highly visual book, photographer Williamson goes to the homes of 14 different mid-century designers to look at their own interpretations of modernism. As part of her quest she only visits homes that have been left unchanged (although some are now museums), including the abodes of George Nakashima, Harry Bertoia and Charles and Ray Eames, as well as the highlight of seeing inside Walter Gropius's Bauhaus home in Massachusetts, USA.
Published by Rizzoli, it's currently for sale for £25.50 on Amazon.

Starburst wall decor
Think sunburst/starburst designs and you are probably imagining a clock or a mirror from the mid-modern period. Wallter, the people behind the bubble rack we featured last week, have used this motif to create this Starburst wall decor.
Rather than being another wall sticker, it's a wood based 3D creation and it's made ready for painting with the colour of your choice. It comes in two sizes with two prices: either just over 60cm in diameter for $142 or, for a dramatic statement and a higher cost, approximately 112cm for $300.
