Sunray Pleat Shift Dress by John Zack

Sunraypleat

While many modern reproductions of sixties dresses lean heavily on busy prints, there often lies a truer vintage look in those with sharply observed structure. This Sunray Pleat Dress by John Zack chooses to focus on a unique silhouette, providing a dress that has an instant mid-sixties vibe.

The blue-grey colour is an authentically muted choice that leaves room for the textured pleating to look more subtle and stylish. The a-line cut and mini hemline are accentuated by the babydoll effect of such loose and flowing fabric, while a high neckline and basic sleeveless cut are sharp and chic.

For the uninitiated, around 2,000 of these Mary Quant-designed Minis were made, a good number no doubt rusting away since the 1980s, so it's very much a case of future collectible we reckon. This one looks a real gem too.

Mini creates retro-style electric scooter for the modern-day mod

Scoot1

According to the Der Spiegel site, BMW's Mini offshoot is moving into the scooter market. Specifically the electric scooter market – and with a retro twist.

As you can see from the image above, the company has already given the 'mod treatment' to one of its new bikes, described as 'a new generation of scooters', which will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The mod version is described as the 'Anglophile' and is being pitched at 'modern-day mods'. Eco-friendly ones anyway.
