Next retro rug

Next rug

From cushions to table waresNext seem to be really playing up the retro influences with their Spring collection. The latest addition is this retro rug, featuring an abstract pattern in interlocking shapes. The green, grey and yellow colour scheme would work really well in relation to the other products we've featured or, if you want a more dramatic look, it also comes in red.

The down side is that it isn't made from wool, instead made from lookalike acrylic. However, this is reflected in the price which is a bit more affordable than some of the rugs we feature, ranging from £50 to £199 depending on size. The pattern is also available on a runner with prices starting at £50.

Optical Illusion op art-style canvas at Next

Opart

If you are looking for a piece of affordable wall art that screams the 1960s, check out Next, which is currently selling this Optical Illusion canvas.

Yes, very much in the style of Bridget Riley or Victor Vasarely (indeed, it's not a million miles away from Riley's classic Movement in Squares), this is a fraction of the price of either an original or a legitimate print, with the image printed onto a canvas sized at 80 x 80cm.

Available online, you can pick one up for £50.

Retro leaves cushion from Next

Retro leaves cushion

Just yesterday we showed you ISAK's new floral mug, their interpretation of the 1950s-style skeletal floral designs that are around at the moment. Here's another take on that theme, courtesy of the high street and Next's retro leaves cushion

If you're a bit suspicious of chintz, this simple and pared-back design is the perfect way to introduce a touch of the natural world into your home.

It's something of a bargain too, costing only £10.

Alpine Meadow range from Next

Alpine dinner set

The naturally-inspired pattern on the mugs, dinner set and table runner in Next's Alpine Meadow range have a definite 1950s feel.

The dinner set, shown above, is representative of the other products with its retro colouring and pattern. It's got a similar style to Miss Print's Dandelion mobile wallpaper or Sanderson's design through its skeletal depiction of the floral forms.

The set includes four dinner plates, four side plates and four bowls, all for £28. The other products are similarly reasonably priced and will all hopefully bring some of the freshness of a meadow into your home

Fletcher pendant light from Next

Fletcher light

For a more unusual lighting look from the high street, how about this Fletcher pendant light from Next? Like the wire sculpture wire chandelier from Graham and Green we featured a little while back, its use of plastic and wire resembles constructivist works by artists like Naum Gabo from the 1920s onwards.

Although the suspension isn't included, it measures around 35cm diameter and is guaranteed to be a talking point. Another bonus is the price: it costs a very reasonable £50.

Next apple storage set

Apple uncropped

Here are more goodies from Next who have come up trumps in their latest kitchen collection. Following on from the apple memo board featured earlier in the week, here's a similarly fruity storage set. The five piece set has containers for keeping all your kitchen essentials, from bread to biscuits. Each has a white finish with a repeated apple motif and a red lid to match the plain lettering. The simple design means the set could fit easily into a retro-inspired kitchen.

The set costs £32.
