Virago Modern Classic hardback collection

Virago
Cast your mind back a few years, and you may remember the Virago modern classic range: hardback titles, decorated with fantastic patterns from the likes of Cath Kidston and Orla Kiely. Well, that formula was obviously so successful, they've done it again, this time giving the deluxe treatment to five further titles.

Books are married to designers of a suitable style or era. Elaine Dundy's 1958 The Dud Avocado is decorated by a distinctive Lucienne Day pattern, while Elizabeth Jenkin's The Tortoise and the Hare is paired with a Florence Broadhurst design. Contemporary designers who work in a retro style are also included: the other covers are decorated by Angie Lewin, Eley Kishimoto and Neisha Crosland.

Beautiful by themselves, or on their own, the books are priced at £13 each.

Clover coasters from Pryl design

Clovercoasters

These clover coasters from Pryl design are almost too eyecatching for resting your cup of tea on.

Designed by Julia Nielsen for the Swedish company, the classic four leaf clover is transformed into a psychedelic design which looks like it has been drawn from the late 1960s, rather than 2011. The clover design comes in three eye-popping colours, all printed onto triangular laminated birchwood – perfect for cheering up a dull table or desktop.

A set of three costs £12.

Katy Chard Fall fabric cushion

Fall cushion

Katy Chard is a printmaker and designer whose retro influences clearly show in her work, including this Fall fabric cushion.

The beautiful colours and textures used on the cushion give it a 1950s look. Like some of the most famous textile designers from that period, Chard also is heavily influenced by the natural world – some of her other designs play with the patterns of trees, flowers and even fish.

This cushion design costs £40.
