Retro leaves duvet set at Argos

Retro leaves duvet

It was only yesterday that we showed you the Orla Kiely book, the latest addition to her range. With such success, it's hardly surprising that high street alternatives that echo her style are available. A case in point is this retro leaves duvet from Argos

Argos isn't normally the first place you'd associate with retro style, but this duvet features a pleasant green and brown design of paired leaves, with a passing resemblance to Kiely's stem pattern. Not the time to be snobby about thread or tog count, the set is made from a polyester and cotton mix.

Fantastic value though at £13.99 for a two pillowcase and king sized duvet set.

Pattern by Orla Kiely

Orla kiely Pattern

We're massive fans of Orla Kiely here, be it her women's fashion, her bags, her homeware or her newly launched perfume . Her new book Pattern is yet another way to get a piece of her retro style.

The book is a chunky 304 pages, exploring the Orla Kiely trademark use of pattern in design. Double page spreads are devoted to some of her most famous patterns such as the instantly recognisable stem design. These are shown alongside shots of her own home and studio, perfect for a touch of interiors inspiration.

The perfect book to put on your Orla Kiely Rowan coffee table but a lot more affordable – the title retails at £25 or is currently selling for £16.46 on Amazon.

Kauniste 60s and 70s inspired tea towels

Kauniste

This charming tea towel design is taken from the first collection of Finnish company Kauniste

They've looked back to the 60s and 70s to gain inspiration for their designs, produced with the aim for them to be cherished and kept for the next fifty or so years. This Maatilda depicts a rural scene, while the range also includes a tea towel with a depiction of a well-packed kitchen shelf as well as a vegetable pattern that would fit in well with the Linea salad bowl featured yesterday. Each design is printed in bright colours onto a linen and cotton mix.

Each tea towel costs 17 euros.

Lisa Stickley at Debenhams

Lisa Stickley cake tin

We've featured Lisa Stickley's retro inspired goods for the home previously and now her designs are available on a much wider scale with her new range for Debenhams.

Sometimes referred to as the new Cath Kidston (you can compare and contrast the cake tin above with Cath's tins here), her products are also inspired by vintage florals. Add in a dash of old-fashioned typography, and contrast with black and other bright colours and the results are the finishing touch for a retro kitchen. The range includes everything from milk jugs and cake stands to aprons and oven gloves.

Prices for the range start at £3.50 for an egg cup with this cake tin costing £12.

Alice Apple mini prints

Alice apple

It's always satisfying to get original art into your home. Even better if it's affordable too. Something of an artistic bargain then are these mini prints by Alice Apple

Alice Apple's name may sound familiar as we've featured some of her colourfully decorated mugs in the past. This print shows the same love of pattern, illustrating a kitchen scene surely worthy of Orla Kiely and a 60s/70s feel. The print is very small – just postcard sized – but as it comes in four different colour ways, you could invest in all four and make a larger feature of them.

And you can afford to do that too, as the print costs just $5. That's approximately £3.29 using the handy new Etsy converter.

Pet Sounds tea towel by Mini Moderns

Pet sounds t towel

Remember the Pet Sounds wallpaper we featured a little while back? Well, if you liked that pattern but weren't quite brave enough to cover your walls with it, thankfully Mini Moderns have reproduced the same design on the Pet Sounds tea towel

It's the same folky, weird wonderfulness, just on a much smaller scale, meaning you can now dry your designs, inspired by the apparent musical talents of the animal kingdom.

And, of course, it's much cheaper too. This tea towel costs only £8.
