My Robot Family Prints

Product-29935-1_full
It would seem that printmaker, Velvetimages, like retro robots just as much as we do, judging by their series of My Robot Family Prints.

Vintage tin robots have been photographed, either on their own or in groups, in the TTV style, which further adds to their retro charm. For the uninitiated TTV stands for Through the Viewfinder and is a style of photography where photographs are taken on a digital camera, but looking through an old-fashioned camera. The prints cost £30 for 8 x 8 size or £45 for 12 x12 size.

Buy them online from Bouf.

eBay watch: Vista Colour vintage bakelite 120 film camera

Vista

A real oddity on eBay right now, this Vista Colour vintage bakelite 120 film camera.

Not sure about the year, the seller is pitching it as 1930s, I'd think it was a little later. But it's certainly an old one. Despite that, it's incredibly complete – right down to the box, the original strap and some original unused film would you believe.

The seller can't confirm it works, although 'the shutter does seem to fire just fine', so you might be in luck. Anyway, right now it doesn't cost much to find out, with the price at just 99 cents (63p) plus the shipping out of Texas.

Fujifilm FinePix X100 vintage-style digital camera launches

Fujifilm-x100

Vintage seems to be 'in' when it comes to high-end digital cameras right now, with this Fujifilm FinePix X100 promising stiff competition for the Olympus E-P1 and E-P2, not to mention the entire Leica range.

It just might have the looks to match the Leica M9 rangefinder and technically…well, it certainly impresses. Designed for the serious snapper, it packs a 12-megapixel APS-C DSLR sensor, a hybrid viewfinder (mix of optical and electronic), a 2.8-inch LCD screen, continuous shooting at 5fps and the option to shoot HD (720p) video.

Sold with a 23mm F/2 lens as standard, it should be available from early 2011. No price as yet, but we don't expect it to be cheap.

Polaroid Note Cards

5620415486613_White_l1

Having been threatened with extinction, it seems the popularity of the Polaroid camera and its instant snaps is actually growing. These Polaroid Note Cards are the result of one project that paid tribute to the art of Polaroid photography.

Resulting from the “For the Love of Light” project, the set has been put together by the photographer Jenifer Altman and contains 20 cards, each with a different Polaroid image. The images include flowers, a chair, cupcakes, a New York taxi all with that unmistakable white frame around the image and in the slightly washed out looking colours that the Polaroid produces that reminds me of childhood photographs.

The set is available to buy from Urban Outfitters for £9.99.

Retro-styled Pentax Optio H90 digital camera now heavily discounted at Comet

Comet_rams

Cheers to Riz for flagging up this little bargain – the Pentax Optio H90 camera we featured at the start of the year is now much discounted in the Comet sale – making it a tempting little deal.

Unfortunately, it's the black and silver one above, not the really eye-catching orange and silver version that also launched back then. Oh well, you can't have everything. But we still love the Braun-like looks of this Dieter Rams-inspired design and the fact that those throwback looks are matched by a set og high-end features – 12.1-megapixel sensor, 5x wide angle optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD, 720p HD video recording, face detection, smile capture, blink detection, shake reduction and plenty of auto settings.

It was originally on sale for £150, but now you can bag one for £79.99. Like we said, a little bargain.
