Darkroom Stolen from De Stijl range

Darkroom
One of London's most stylish shops, Darkroom, have launched their first own collection. Stolen from De Stijl is as strongly influenced by the Dutch art movement as the name might suggest.

The range adopts the simple visual ideas advocated by the De Stijl movement, applying blocks and lines of primary colours, along with black and white only, across a range of products including scarves, bags, cushions and notebooks. The plate pictured is hand-painted and unglazed so for purely decorative purposes only if you want it to retain its sense of style.

Prices start at £22 while the plates cost £120 each.

Alexander Girard plate set

Millerhouseplates3
This striking Alexander Girard plate set is far too good to be used for everyday.

It features motifs designed by Girard in 1956 for Georg Jensen when he was asked to produce seven table settings. Just four of the motifs are used in this set, which is produced by the Indianapolis Museum of Art, all instantly recognisable as his style – the pinwheel, patera, garland and hexagon. So stylish, in fact, that I suspect you'd want to use the set for display rather than eating off.

The set costs £38.50.
