eBay watch: 1960s Phono Boy 7-inch portable record player by Dario and Mario Bellini

Phono

Also known as the Minerva after the company that made them, the Phono Boy 7-inch portable record player by Dario and Mario Bellini actually made its name when Grundig started selling them. But this is one of the original Italian models.

A very hip vintage item from 1968 and a useful one too. Slip in a 45 and you get to play singles, which is useful at record fairs, charity shops, car boots and the like.

According to the seller, it is n 'excellent vintage' condition, with one or two very small marks. Battery-powered, so no worries about changing the electrics. £30.53 is the price right now.

eBay watch: 1970s Philips 5120 portable record player – mint and boxed

Philips

It's the format they've been trying to kill off for decades. Yet despite that, there's a lot of us out there who still love vinyl. So this Philips 5120 portable record player is well worth a look.

It's not a new player, it's from the 1970s. But it is 'new' old stock, sold with the original box and instructions, as well as being in 'mint' condition. Not a bad looking player too, not least in that very '70s orange.

Powered by mains and batteries, it plays 33 and 45rpm records in 7 or 12-inch size and has that clear lid finishing things off. Right now it's at £1.60 with no reserve.

eBay watch: Serviced and restored 1950s Dansette Major record player

Dansette

We love a record player, as you might have noticed, with this 1950s Dansette Major record player just catching our eye.

It appeals for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it's a Dansette, an icon of an era and still a functional record player in its own right. But even better, this one has been fully serviced and restored by a Dansette service engineer, so everything works, from the valves to the auto-changer. It even comes with the relevant paperwork and stylus details.

It is worth noting that this late-50s player is in original, rather than restored condition, so expect some wear over the years. However, it is described as being in 'excellent clean' condition, with original bronzed hinges, lid fasteners, and carry handle mounts, as well as the original black and gold model label, and address label. Right now, the bidding is at £10.50 with no reserve.

eBay watch: 1950s Marconiphone valve-based portable record player in ‘mint’ condition

Marc1

A long title, but hopefully it tells you more or less everything about this Marconiphone portable record player currently on eBay.

It's a stunning thing, described by the seller as a 'timeworn' and in 'as new' condition – over 50 years on, that's something. The case is in a two-tone pastel design, while the deck plays 16, 33, 45 and 78 vinyl through its valve-based audio system.

Even as a piece of design, it's worth mentioning, but it's a practical item too for vinyl lovers. See a shot of it closed up over the page, with the price currently at a bargain £29.99.
