Earlier this year there were several reports that the historic Abbey Road Studios were up for sale. EMI quickly denied this but they are using the commercial potential of the studios in another way: in a new range of product inspired by their reputation and heritage.
At the moment the range includes t-shirts, laptop cases and notebooks with plans to expand this through 2010. While you can get t-shirts and cases with 'Abbey Road Studios' emblazoned across them, some of the other products have a less immediately obvious link to the studios. For example, the notebook pictured, is inspired by the red boxes used by EMI to store professional recording tape.
The notebooks cost £10, the laptop cases cost £20 while the t-shirts cost £25 each.
