Routemaster letter rack by Susan Bradley

LETTERACK_ROUTEMASTER

If you've already bought the bookend, surely your home is also crying out for Susan Bradley's Routemaster letter rack

As with the bookend, she's taken the instantly recognisable shape of London's most loved bus and applied it to a usually quite dull household object. The rack can be mounted or is usable freestanding and the cheery outline of the Routemaster is bound to make storing your correspondence that bit more fun: no mean feat, especially if bills are involved.

The letter rack costs £20.

London Bus cushion cover by Christine Berrie

London-bus-3

Christine Berrie has already turned her talents to illustrating vintage radios and cameras, so it was perhaps only natural that she'd also feature another retro icon – the Routemaster – shown here on her London Bus cushion cover.

It's a simple, lovingly rendered design that's printed onto a cotton cushion cover that should go down well with people who fondly remember this method of transport. Grab a cushion pad and you could use the design to make your own commute to work that bit more comfortable and stylish.

Prices start at 19.99 euros.

London Transport Museum babywear

Transport top

As part of their Christmas collection, the London Transport Museum shop have launched a new babywear range that's suitable for any time in the year.

The range features three motifs, all taken from a 1986 poster for the 'One Day travelcard', which was designed by an unknown artist: a Routemaster bus as pictured above, a retro spacecraft or a clown. Though dating from the '80s, the designs draw on the traditional style associated with the transport posters and look a lot earlier in date. Each motif is available on either a cotton long sleeve top, a bib or a hat.

The bib and the hat are both priced at £6.99 each, while the long sleeve top costs £13.99.

Double Decker Routemaster Print

181732_london+bus2_2
The Double Decker Routemaster Print from I Love Design celebrated the most iconic of all buses.

Rather than being drawn in the traditional red, the buses are all decorated in a choice of traditional British patterns. Yes, that does mean the Union Jack, but also two patterns that celebrate London with illustrations of phone boxes and landmarks and one decorated with a “bus and soldier” pattern. The history of the Routemaster is written at the bottom of the print.

The posters are sold unframed and cost £20 for the A3 size or £30 for the A2 size. Buy online from I Love Design’s shop on Not on the High Street.
