For sale: 1930s art deco house in Guiseley, Leeds, West Yorkshire

Leeds1

Many of the art deco houses we see on the market are pushing the £1 million mark. This 1930s art deco four-bedroomed house in Guiseley, near Leeds, West Yorkshire is more modest in both size and price, but does need a little work.

Not too much though, the overall structure looks to have been maintained since the original construction, with the likes of the windows, doors and staircase still looking as they should be (but can't be absolutely sure) That front door in particular is impressive in its originality. The garage door certainly isn't!

For sale: 1950s midcentury five-bedroomed house in London SW16

Mid1

An interesting property, not least because this midcentury five-bedroomed property in London SW16 is still very reminiscent of the era it was built. Unfortunately, it is being marketed with 'active planning permission for a complete redevelopment of the site', so it might not be staying that way.

But for now, let's enjoy its period glory, a period we are guessing is the 1950s – the agent gives no details of its heritage or the architect behind it. But one look at the exterior, the kitchen, the staircase, the wood flooring and the open-plan design of the place points us towards that particular era.

For sale: Six-bedroomed Nantmelyn art deco house in Llangawsai, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales

Aber1

Another art deco gem for sale, although this six-bedroomed Nantmelyn art deco house in Llangawsai, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales doesn't quite match up inside to that wonderful exterior.

According to the agent, the house was built in 1932, the work of local Architect G.T. Bassett, but part of the place isn't original, due to an extension that was added 'in recent years'. Although, to be fair, you wouldn't have guessed from looking at the photos.

For sale: Five-bedroomed art deco house in Willaston, Wirral, Cheshire

Will1

A great house from the outside, this five-bedroomed art deco house in Willaston, Wirral, Cheshire doesn't quite have the same wow factor inside. Although it does offer enough of a 'blank canvas' to put the period back in

Described as ‘architecturally significant’, the house was designed back in 1935 by local architect Hubert Thomas and can be found in the Cheshire volume of ‘Buildings of Britain’ by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner. So we're talking a house with some pedigree.
