1950s Marianne Westman-designed Picknick chopping boards

Picknick

Back in July, we featured the reissue of a classic – the Marianne Westman-designed Picknick homeware range. Originally designed in 1956, it's a Scandinavian mid-century classic that still looks shaper today. If you invested in that, you'll no doubt be keen on owning these newly-launched Picknick cutting boards.

Like the rest of the range, the design features food laid out for a picnic, this time on a wooden board that's been laminated and available in a choice of three designs and sizes.

Prices start at £20.47.

eBay watch: A pair of 1960s Danish space age two tone ceiling lights

Danish

The maker? The year? We're not entirely sure, nor is the seller to be honest, so let's just say these are a pair of 1960s Danish hanging lights, which could prove to be really good value.

Likely to be 1960s but possibly sneaking into the 70as, this pair of lights is actually made of metal, with what looks like copper (or a copper colour) on top, with steel at the bottom, sized around 24cm diameter.

Condition is described as 'good' but they do have some small scratches due to age and use – see the full description for close-up shots of the affected areas. Right now, the price is just 1p for the two, although there's still some time to go.

eBay watch: 1970s Borje Johanson-designed Venus chair

Venus

A lesser-known but very stylish design classic has landed on eBay – this Borje Johanson-designed Venus chair.

The work of Scandinavian designer Borje Johanson, it has a chrome-plated, tulip-style swivel-base, with black leather upholstery and by all accounts is in pretty decent condition.

The seller claims it is in 'very good above-average condition', with 'marginal signs of age, fine and slight scratches on the chrome-plated base, but nothing major'. So a decent example and despite some interest, still only at the £21 mark.

Sanna Annukka Aurinko tea light holders

Aurinko_tealight
Regular readers will know that we're big fans of the work of Sanna Annukka and her take on traditional Scandinavian art done with more than a hint of the 1970s. In the style of her soul birds that we showed you a little while back, she's now applied her trademark type of pattern to these Aurinko tea light holders

Made from solid oak, the tea-light holders measure around 20cm high. Each has been screen-printed with a different folk art style pattern meaning no two designs are the same. The use of the black pattern against the oak gives a contemporary feel to the objects and they are interesting pieces in their own right, whether or not you choose to add the tea lights.

These holders have been made in an edition of only 100 pairs so, if you like them, you should probably invest now.

They cost £89 for a pair.

Odin chairs at Made.com

Odin chairs
More retro furniture from Made.com, this time the mid-century style Odin chairs.

The design of the chair seems to combine elements from other classic chairs: that chair back, for example, looks a bit like the Arne Jacobsen Ant chair, while the seat is like that on the Ercol Butterfly chair. Whatever the individual influences, the overall look is definitely classic mid-century.

They're part of Made.com's Nordic collection, referencing Scandinavian design. The chairs are made from plywood with a walnut veneer and have chrome steel legs. They arrive requiring assembly.

As always with Made.com, there's a long wait for the chairs to be made and delivered but that's reflected in the price – in this case a very reasonable £139 for the pair.
