Lotta Kuhlhorn pear mugs

Lotta pear

It was only earlier this week we showed you Lotta Kühlhorn's jazzy lindyhop coasters. Here's another design from her, suitable for decorating the retro home, these attractive pear mugs

Like the products featuring her apple design, she uses a simplified, colourful version of the fruit. The pears come in bright pop shades of red, yellow and pink, as well as the more traditional green. Use them them next to your Orla Kiely pear mugs in the kitchen for a very fruity cup of tea.

The mugs cost £7.25 each.

1960s CH468 chair by Hans J Wegner goes into production for first time

Aram

You can't say that the CH468 chair by Hans J Wegner is an icon of the era, purely because the chair never actually went into production when it was designed, which was back in the 1960s.

But it is going into production in 2010, launching during the London Design Festival in September. The chair was first designed by Wegner in 1960s, with Carl Hansen and Son working from the original drawings, clay models and photos of the prototypes to recreate a lost gem from the 50 years ago.

The frame is brushed stainless steel, the interior frame is handmade in wood and the cushion is in down and foam, all finished off in your choice of material for a truly stylish object. Price? Expect to pay £2,895 when it lands at Aram.

Linea Grace chair

Linea grace armchair

This Linea Grace chair is another mid-century style design courtesy of the High Street.

An elegant piece of design that doesn't immediately give away its age or provenance, it's a classic wingback chair with padded seat, all upholstered in a green fabric. This retro look is completed by the darkly stained conical legs. All-in-all it's a design that states mid-century Scandinavian.

Luckily it's a Summer 2010 sale bargain, as this is currently reduced to £249.

Darling Clementine Woodland card range

Darling Clemintine woodland

Darling Clementine have previously been celebrated on this site for their 1970s designs. So it's hardly a surprise that their new Woodland card range references that Seventies trend currently enjoying a revival in fashion, 70s folk.

The cards are sold in sets of eight different designs. They feature all the motifs you'd expect like birds, flowers and leaves. The use of pinks, oranges and black, rather than the blues and greens you might expect, gives a contemporary edge to their look.

A set of the cards costs $35.

Artek 1930s-designed garden furniture by Alvar Aalto

Aalto1

Ok, the sun is out, so our thoughts turn to garden furniture, which doesn't get any classier than this Artek garden furniture by Alvar Aalto.

Designed by Aalto around 1938-39 for Villa Mairea (the house he designed for friends Harry and Maire Gullichsen), it has the designer's distinctive modernist spin across the range. A range that includes a garden chair, a lounger and two types of table.
