Love this design, not least because the Rubiks Cube Seat Storage Table at Surface Tension is such a practical item.

Splay oak chair from Heal’s
The Splay oak chair is another 1950s-style design, courtesy of Heal's new Scandinavian design for living range.
This isn't a design they've plucked from their archive but one that's simply been inspired by the period. Made from oak, with a stylish curved back and topped off with a green wool seat, the chair has the good looks to see it through many more decades to come.
The chair costs £250.

Midcentury-inspired Linea Grace armchair at House of Fraser
Yes, it's another retro-inspired gem from the current House of Fraser range, specifically the Linea Grace armchair.
This time, we're in the world of the single seat, this being a mini wing chair if you like, with a flared back and slightly angled arms, as well as a buttoned back, stained and angled conical legs, plus a wood subtract frame and traditional webbed seat platform. All of that is finished in what is described as an 'aubergine' fabric.
Like most of the furniture at House of Fraser, this midcentury gem is discounted right now, down from £399 to a current price of £299.

eBay watch: 1970s Artifort ‘Hello There’ chair by Jeremy Harvey
A wonderful design that's perfect for the summer weather – this 1970s Artifort 'Hello There' chair by Jeremy Harvey.
It was designed in 1978 by Harvey and reissued back in 2011, although this one is said to be from the late 70s, rather than the reissue, which probably makes it all the more valuable.
This one is also in yellow and is said to be in 'remarkable condition for its age', with 'only two small chips' that are 'only noticable on very close inspection'. Garden chairs don't get much cooler – and this one currently comes with a price of £99.
Toronto chairs from Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer seem to be exploring a retro look at the moment, as well as the Montford armchair we featured last month, they're also stocking these Toronto chairs.
With their curvy maple veneer back and set, they have more than a passing resemblance to Arne Jacobsen's Ant chair, which was launched by Fritz Hansen in 1952. The look is enhanced by the chrome legs (four of them in this case). The chair has been given a contemporary twist with a choice of pastel blue or green colour scheme.
A pair of the chairs costs £69.

Dwell introduces the Harry Bertoia-like Wire Chair
Back in 2007, we featured the Bertoia Diamond armchair, a design classic from 1952 that's still in production via Knoll, retailing for the best part of £1,000. Alternatively, you can go to Dwell and buy the Wire Chair.
Let's be kind and say that the Wire Chair is inspired by the midcentury classic. I'm sure there's a few subtle differences to the designs, but you'll have to look very close to find them.
The Dwell version mixes black lacquered wire with white faux leather for the seating and involves a touch of self-assembly. But it does come at a hugely-reduced price, £149 to be precise. It's available to order now, with stock arriving in February.
