Fielding sofa from Made.com

Fielding_3-seater_sofa_grey_herringbone_lightbox12
This Fielding sofa from Made.com looks like its been influenced by Florence Knoll's classic 1954 sofa.

The Knoll sofa has inspired many high street interpretations (take a look at this Ikea number or this one from Love Your Home For Less) and no wonder when the design still looks so sleek and contemporary. This three-seater sofa has the straight lines and buttoned back that hark back to the 50s original.

The price of this one stands up pretty well to its competitors: the sofa costs £999 for leather finish, or £599 for the grey herringbone upholstery pictured.

Martingala chair by Marco Zanuso

Martingala
Dating from 1954, Marco Zanuso's Martingala chair is still looking pretty stylish today.

The chair was originally designed for the X Trienalle and is recognisable for the continuous curve of the arms into the back. That is paired with those splayed metal legs and ball feet, giving it a noticeable 50s feel. Its manufacturer, Arflex, also claim it is the first armchair with removable covers, giving it an extra praticality too.

Prices start at £2,206 and vary depending on your choice of upholstery.

Juke armchair from Made.com

Jay_armchair_oatmeal_sack_hessian_lightbox_1

We've featured a number of homewares recently that look like they've been made by re-using old sacks, this Juke armchair from Made.com takes that trend one step further with the entire upholstery looking like it's been made from wheat sack.

Despite its appearances, the makers claim the upholstery is apparently very comfortable. It's been custom made especially for the chair which, with its curved arms and tapered legs, takes its inspiration from the 1920s. It's a slightly odd mix of classic shape and nontraditional fabric. If that look appeals to you, remember that – like all Made.com products – it comes with a long waiting time, in this case eight to ten weeks.

The chair costs £499.

Magic Cube – Rubik’s Cube style beanbag

RUBIK-MODELO

The Rubik's Cube was not only the must have puzzler game of the 80s, but has since inspired hundreds of objects for the home, from mugs and coasters to lamps to alarm clocks. This new interpretation – the magic cube – offers the same looks, this time in the form of a beanbag.

The cube is made by Spanish company Woouf. It's 40cm square, filled with foam and that colourful cover is fully removal and made from polyester. Perhaps not the classiest piece of design but then, that was never going to be its prime selling point.

The beanbag costs 150 euros.

eBay watch: 1960s Superonda seating system by Archizoom Associati for Poltronova

Polt

A real rarity on eBay right now that's certain to appeal to fans of 1960s space age design – this Superonda seating system by Archizoom Associati for Poltronova.

As you might have guessed, Archizoom Associati was a radical design group, operating out of Italy and designing this particular 'system' in 1966, produced at the time by Poltronova. Specifically the units are 'vinyl covered polyurethane blocks' that are cut into a large rectangle that's bisected by a wave'. The blocks can then be used as a chaise longue, sofa or divan.

Apparently in 'good condition', it's got some surface marks to the vinyl, but nothing more. Not cheap, with a current price of £449, but just you try finding another.
