Chelsea Textiles Credenza

Mid097-14v3_1_1
Chelsea Textiles began over twenty years ago with faithful reproductions of 17th and 18th century fabrics, but happily for us, they have expanded their offerings to include midcentury modern inspired furniture such as this Credenza.

It is described handmade, handpainted and made entirely from wood. It measures 73cm high by 96cm wide and is 48 cm deep. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t give a price, which is never a sign of a bargain, but something this beautiful could be worth saving for.

Visit the Chelsea Textile website for contact and ordering details.

eBay watch: 1950s mini sideboard and coffee table

Dan1

Rather than just the one item, we're featuring two, as the 1950s mini sideboard and coffee table featured here are both cut from a similar cloth and both from the same seller.

Starting with the mini sideboards, it is described as a 1950s Danish design with rosewood veneer, two overhanging side, two compartments (one with a bottom hinged door), four angled legs and brass adjustable 'pods'. Condition is described as 'very good' and the bid price right now is £9.

See over the page for a picture of the coffee table, which is a stylish midcentury piece with tripod-style legs, brass feet and a 'faux wood' top. Condition is down as 'excellent' and the price is also £9 right now.

50s Retro two-door sideboard at Dooley’s Furniture

Dooleys

50s Retro is the name  of the piece, with this oak sideboard certainly living up to the name.

By that, we mean the look is certainly 1950s midcentury, although the design is a new one. For your money you get that oak construction witty a satin lacquer finish, four low angled legs and two doors to the front.

The entire thing is 120cm wide (about 4ft) and 70cm tall, selling right now for £286.

Arne Sideboard designed by Robert Cain

Arne sideboard

The Arne Sideboard, designed by Robert Cain, is a contemporary piece in the mid-century style. If the name and its looks hasn't given it away, the design has been inspired by the Danish '50s and '60s designs of Arne Vodder.

That translates to straight lines paired with colourful doors and drawers, although it's made from walnut rather than the rose or teak Vodder would have used. The design is practical too – you can adjust the shelves to get the most suitable storage arrangement for you.

The sideboard costs £624. Not bad when you consider prices for original Vodder sideboards go into the thousands.

eBay watch: 1950s midcentury-style wooden cabinet

50s

So far, this 1950s midcentury-style wooden cabinet is something of a steal. Here's hoping that's the case when the auction ends.

It's not a designer piece, but it is an interesting design, with those four angles legs, two drawers and a pull-down lower section for extra storage.

No mention of the kind of wood here, but the condition is described as 'very good' with 'light wear' on the top section. Want it? Right now, it's at just £9. Check out the seller's other items too, plenty of other pieces from a similar era too.

Camber Sideboard from Dwell

400-110108
The Camber Sideboard from Dwell provides generous storage space with a good dose of retro style.

There are two cupboard areas in the middle with a three drawer section on each end. Unusually the drawers are quadrant-shapes which gives the sideboard its distinctive rounded edges. The unit is covered in a grained walnut veneer which adds to its retro appeal.

It costs £899 and is estimated to be available at the end of this month. Visit Dwell to order.
