Arflex 1970s Strips sofa set by Cini Boeri

Arflex

We rarely feature items off the Conran Shop site as their website isn't particularly 'blogger-friendly' – but they are one of the few retailers selling this Arflex Strips sofa set by Cini Boeri.

It's a design that really does scream its era, that era being the early 70s – 1972 if you want us to be precise. Cini Boeri worked with Arflex on a modular collection of sofas, ottomans and sofa-beds using polyurethane foam and that were able to fit to any space.

The sofa above is one of these designs, a large corner unit that offers both style and comfort, as well as a bold orange finish – perfect for a high-end 70s-style pad. As you might have guessed, this huge sofa isn't cheap, with an asking price of £9,485. That doesn't include the pouf either, which sells for a further £1,525.

eBay watch: 1960s William Plunkett WP01 full sofa set

Plunkett

Last year, we featured the reissue of the William Plunkett WP01 sofa – part of larger range of modular seating that date back to 1966. Twenty Twenty One reissued them, with the sofa selling from £2,970. That puts the price of this original William Plunkett WP01 full sofa set into context.

But you'll have to love bold design. Yes, no subtle shades of leather here, instead you've got that strong pattern, the result of being 'sympathetically recovered' in the past. It's something you'll love or hate.

For your money, you get a sofa, two single chairs and an ottoman, all bearing the original plunkett sticker circa 1966. Price? Offers start at £1,495, with no reserve.

eBay watch: 1970s B&B Italia La Bambole sofa by Mario Bellini

Bellini

You just know it's going to be comfortable – but this B&B Italia La Bambole sofa by Mario Bellini is actually a design classic too.

It's a chunky piece, designed in 1976 by Bellini and remade today – but you'll be looking at well in excess of £2,000 to secure a reissued one, which makes this all the more of a steal, especially with a leather finish. The design itself is unusual, with no rigid supports, no traditional armrests, no base frame and no feet. Just a great place to flop into.

Condition is down as 'very good', with only minor scuffs due to age, but there are no rips or tears to the leather. It's also Signed with printed manufacturer's mark to underside: 'B&B Italia Modelo Le Bambole Designe Mario Bellini'. Price? Right now it's up at just 7p. Yes, you really did read that correctly.

A 60s-inspired design, with more than a bit of Florence Knoll about it, both the armchair and sofa are upholstered in high-quality, heavyweight black hide with what's described as a 'beautiful grain'. There's also that panelled seam detailing on the back cushions and inner/outer arms and polished metal 'sled legs'.

You can see a snap of the sofa over the page, with the price of that at £1,999, while the armchair goes for £1,200.

Ercol Studio 1950s sofa reissued

Studio

We featured one item reissued for the company's 90th anniversary yesterday, but here's another gem that's back from the Ercol archives – the Ercol Studio sofa.

Designed by company founder Lucian Ercolani in the late 1950s, it's both stylish and versatile, not least because it can double up as an occasional bed as well as a sofa.

Made from solid elm and beech, you can get it finished in a wide range of fabrics. Because of that point, prices vary, but start at £1,875.
