Space age-inspired INQ Cloud Touch and INQ Cloud Q mobiles phones by ChauhanStudio

Inq1

Some of you might recall the Colombo home phones by ChauhanStudio in 2008. The Joe Colombo-inspired handsets were first featured on our Switched On Set site and went down a storm, not least over here too. Well, the same designers are back with new phones, this time playing with the mobile and producing the INQ Cloud Touch and INQ Cloud Q. Best of all? They'll be pretty cheap to buy.

Like the Colombo, the handsets are once again inspired by 1970s space age design, you can imagine either sat next to some period Artemide lighting and not looking out of place (if they had mobiles phone then, obviously). But these are very modern handsets with deep Facebook integration as soon as you switch on, Spotify integrated into the handsets (via a dedicated key) and the Android operating system, so you can access all the apps on the Google platform.

eBay watch: 1960s Angelo Mangiarotti Saffo space age table lamp

Saffa

A design that doesn't come up very often, so there's sure to be some interest in this Angelo Mangiarotti Saffo table lamp.

A great example of space age design for Artemide, it was originally produced in 1966, with this example coming with the manufacturer's decal and signed with a moulded mark to underside of base. It even comes with the original box. Nice.

For your money, you get a lamp with a hand-blown, smoked Murano glass diffuser and a chrome-plated base, not to mention plenty of style. It's sold out of France, so if you're not there, you'll need to sort out the electrics. Easy enough though. Current bidding price is £68.44.

60s-style Neptune pendant at BHS

BHS
The latest lighting collection from BHS has obvious retro influences. We've already shown you the 70s-esque Mason mushroom lamp, while – as perhaps could be guessed from its name – this Neptune pendant looks to 60s Space Age style.

The steel pendant is a variation on the classic sputnik look, with eight satellite arms and lights coming off the central ball.

As you'd expect from the store, it's reasonably priced too. The pendant costs £100.

eBay watch: Artifort 1960s Mushroom Chair and Pouf by Pierre Paulin

Mushroom

Buying one of these would cost you £1,656 new, not to mention the best part of £500 for the matching stool. Which is why this Artifort Mushroom Chair and Pouf by Pierre Paulin is such a bargain.

It was designed in 1960 by Paulin, an early example of space age design and even today, it looks as modern as anything else on the market.

This example is in dark blue and is described as being in 'very good condition' – the foam is firm with no sagging and the upholstery is clean with no snags. £750 is the 'buy it now price, which is cheap enough. But you can also make an offer.

eBay watch: 1970s Rosita UFO Vision 2000 space age hi-fi system

Rosita

We have featured a couple of Rosita audio system in the past (namely here and here), but this Rosita UFO Vision 2000 hi-fi system is undoubtedly our favourite.

Designed out of West Germany in 1971 by Thilo Oerke, the design is pure space age – a globe holding the audio kit, with a chromed tulip-style stand for support. sadly, the audio doesn't quite live up to the design, a very 'of the era' cassette player and radio, although the futuristic controls and slide-up clear domed lid make up for it in some way.

It's described as being in 'original unrestored condition, with 'only marginal wear' to show for the years. Not cheap though, £1,899 on a 'Buy It Now' or you can make an offer. Another image over the page, many more on the listing.

eBay watch: 1960s Artemide Pallade space age lamp by Studio Tetrarch

Art2

A real gem for lovers of space age design on eBay right now, this Artemide Pallade lamp by Studio Tetrarch.

Designed in 1969 and very much in that 'Space 1999' groove, it's also 'as new' and in the original box from when the seller bought it in Italy many years back. A big selling point. Other than that, this is a very cool circular floor or table lamp in white, able to target light from that large open space in the centre, the shell being made of an ABS resin apparently.

Downside? You'll need to pay extra shipping if you're not in mainland Europe, while the starting price of 400 Euros is fairly high, but not excessive in light of condition. More images (including the packaging) on the site.
