eBay watch: A pair of 1960s Danish space age two tone ceiling lights

Danish

The maker? The year? We're not entirely sure, nor is the seller to be honest, so let's just say these are a pair of 1960s Danish hanging lights, which could prove to be really good value.

Likely to be 1960s but possibly sneaking into the 70as, this pair of lights is actually made of metal, with what looks like copper (or a copper colour) on top, with steel at the bottom, sized around 24cm diameter.

Condition is described as 'good' but they do have some small scratches due to age and use – see the full description for close-up shots of the affected areas. Right now, the price is just 1p for the two, although there's still some time to go.

eBay watch: 1970s Philips 100 22AF100 portable record player

Philips

Not the rarest '70s record player, but this Philips 100 22AF100 portable record player is well worth a look for the right price.

In a shade of yellow/orange, it plays 33 and 45 records, with the speaker built into the lid and the whole thing easy to pack up and carry around like a small suitcase.

It's described as having a 'very good sound' and is in 'used but very good' condition. A couple of days left for bidding, but right now it's just £3.21.

Apollo table by Stuart Melrose

Apollo
If you name your table Apollo, you'd almost certainly expect it to have a space age feel. Stuart Melrose's design doesn't disappoint on that front. Its curvy lines, clean white surfaces and tinted glass all give it that distinctive look.

However, the table has also used more recent developments in construction and unexpected material to create that look. Melrose works with both boat design and roofing technology to create his furniture. It's also made from Corian, a blend of natural materials and acrylic polymer – fittingly invented in the 1960s.

The tables are individually made to order and are limited to 300 in total. As you may have guessed this all adds up to a pretty hefty price tay. The exact price? £3450.

eBay watch: 1970s Henri Mathieu ceiling light

Math

A very interesting and eye-catching space age design – this Henri Mathieu ceiling light.

According to the seller, the French designer produced this back in 1970, with a brushed aluminium construction and a lacquered inside, the gaps producing both the light and the lighting effect.

Some wear (see the large images on the site), but no dents, so nothing too serious to worry about. £14.50 is the price right now.

eBay watch: 1969 Olivetti Valentine typewriter by Ettore Sottsass

Olivetti

We have featured the design before. Indeed, we've even featured a poster of it. But if you want to own a classic 1969 Olivetti Valentine typewriter by Ettore Sottsass, a model as good as any is on eBay right now.

You could say it's a space age twist on a (then) functional item, coming in its own matching plastic carry case and with this model, the plastic boxed cleaning brushes and the original instruction booklet too. Which is rare to find.

It's described as being in 'full working condition', but with 'some traces of very light wear comensurate with age'. Nothing to worry about in other words. Bids already placed, so right now it's at £77.

eBay watch: 1970s Bond Bug three-wheel car

Bondbug

It's a cult car from the space age end of the 1970s – and a Bond Bug is on eBay right now.

Designed by Tom Karen for Ogle Design (which also designed the Raleigh Chopper), this compact three-wheeler, the car was first seen in 1968 and went into production via Reliant in 1970, aimed at the hip young motorist of the day.

The model here is described as an 850ES, registered in 1974 and packing an 850cc engine, two seats and some upgrade work by the current owner. It's also had a new paint job via the owner before that. Right now it's up for £3,000, which isn't cheap, but it's not exactly a car you'll see everyday. Saying that, we suspect it's a lot of fun to drive.
