eBay watch: Meister-Anker space age mantel clock

Spaceageclock

Clocks always seem to go down well on these pages, so we couldn't resist featuring this Meister-Anker mantel clock, which is currently up for auction on eBay.

Out of West Germany and, we would guess, out of the early 1970s, the clock features the Meister-Anker maker's name as well as that bold red and black design, a 'tulip-style' base and although it dopesn't state it, an alarm judging by the contrast hand and large button on top.

if you're going for that look, this could be a perfect addition. Sold out of the US, it's currently up for sale at $12.50 (around £8.14), so still a bargain.

Space age Poppins Umbrella Stand by Barber Osgerby

Poppins

A modern-day take on that late 60s, early 70s space age look – the Poppins Umbrella Stand by Barber Osgerby.

New this year, but screaming of the past, it's sized at 30 x 33 x 30cm, made of standard injectionmoulded glossy ABS and has room for up to six umbrellas – enough for the wettest of days.

Choose from four colours (although the orange is our favourite), each sells for £83.

eBay watch: 1970s Hanimex HRC 5020 8-track audio system

Hani

The pictures certainly don't do this justice, but one thing is for sure – this Hanimex HRC 5020 8-track audio system looks like a retro bargain.

Dating back to the 70s (as you've probably guessed after seeing the presence of the 8-track slot), the Japanese-made system also offers an AM/FM radio receiver, an old school (flip numbers) digital clock with buzzer alarm and two matching separate speakers.

A touch of stylish space age design without the big price tag – it's currently on eBay for just £9.99.

Homebase Atom 12 space age light fitting

Homebase_atom

We're not sure about this. We did feature a similarly-named light fitting at Heals a few weeks back, which looks incredibly similar to the Homebase Atom 12 light fitting. Is it the same? We're not sure, but one thing is certain – the Homebase one is considerably cheaper.

The Heals light is £175, while the Homebase take is £99.99 – and possibly even cheaper. For that money, you get a hip, 60s-style, space age light fitting made of a mix of metal and glass, those protruding arms each holding a light powered by a G4 bulb – 12 in total.

A feature light without the feature price – and as Homebase is doing 15 per cent off everything for the next two days, it's probably even cheaper than that £99.99 price too right now.

Sixties-style Bubblerack

BubbleRack_main

The bubblerack is one of those treasured things, something practical that also manages to look good. Primarily a coat rack, the retro bubbles shaped design could also double as a piece of wall art. The rack is made from powder coated steel and is available in the suitably sixties colour options of white or orange.

The rack is designed by an American company called Wallter and costs $145.
