Lov Li Journals

Zoom_P1110123
Lov Li works with a range of illustrators and designers to create their stationery products, which include a collection of retro-themed journals.

Each journal has a suggested use (travel, music, poetry, recipes, fashion, car boot sales) with a whimsical illustration to match. Whilst you may no longer need a place to write your poems or list the records you want to buy, I’m sure most people can find a use for notebook.

They cost £4 each and are available to buy from the Lov Li store on Not on the High Street.

Mod Girls notebook by Rebekah Ginda

Mod girls notebook
On the look out for a fun bit of stationery? Or perhaps a new hair cut? Rebekah Ginda's Mod Girls notebook could offer you both, in an eye-catching piece of illustration.

The German based illustrator has decorated the cover of the notebook with a repeated pattern of 60s-style haircuts. Huge eyes peer out from under heavy fringes or skull caps. Inside the pages are blank, waiting for you to fill with your own stylistic inspirations.

The notebook costs just 3.50 Euros.

Mug book from Larken Designs

Larken mug book
Larken designs have created an unusual update of a mug book, normally a collection of photographs of criminals. In this case, they are handmade notebooks, decorated with the image of a vintage mug shot. The images date to the mid 1950s judging by the placards featured on the images. Take your pick from the woman shown or an equivalent era man.

If you like the look of these, take a look at some of the mug shot posters also offered by this Cincinnati based design duo.

The book costs $10.

Rubik’s Cube notepad

Rubik's cube

We've featured this classic 1980s game in many forms but surprisingly not yet in the form of this Rubik's Cube notepad.

Unlike some of the designs we feature, this is official Rubik's Cube merchandise. That doesn't add too much, except a logo on the packaging. It's purely a block notepad, printed with the image of a completed cube. You peel the pages off as you work through the pad: much simpler to understand than the actual puzzle!

The pad costs £4.99.

Block notes from Suck UK – Tetris style post-its

Block notes
Though they don't say it by name, it's easy to recognise what has inspired these Block notes from Suck UK: with their interlocking shapes, you can have hours of fun rearranging them as though you were playing a game of Tetris.

Fun, certainly, but also possibly useful – the long strips can be used for marking pages, the square ones scribbling longer notes. In fact, with all the blocks together, you can over 100 sheets worth of sticky notes. The number of different arrangements that can be made using one pack of the note pads is less obvious…

A set of the notes costs £7.50.
