iTam Tam Go – classic 1960s space age seat becomes wireless iPhone sound system

Itamtamgo

Regular readers will know we have featured both the original Tam Tam and the more recent iTam Tam audio variation. Well, now there's another option, the iTam Tam Go from Branex Design.

It's the logical progression to both. Still the 1968 space age seat from Henry Massonet and still a sound system capable of hooking up to your iPod or iPhone. But the new 'Go' version also adds in a Lithium-ion battery, offering up to eight listening hours of 'omni directional sound' cable-free.

Ercol’s 90th anniversary tri-colour nest of tables

Ercol_colour

We actually featured the standard set some time ago, but Ercol has now produced a special 90th anniversary edition of its nest of tables with added colour.

It's still the same midcentury classic, a 1956 design from company founder Lucian Ercolani. Indeed, this edition celebrates 90 years since Ercolani set up the company. For that milestone, the tables comes as the tri-colour edition, specifically the three colours you can see above that cover the elm seat and angled beech legs.

If you want the set, £525 secures the three limited edition tables.

Barbican stool from John Lewis

Barbican stool

You've got your Barbican sofa. Complete the look with the accompanying Barbican stool from John Lewis.

It shares the same mid-century influence as the sofa, down to its wooden splayed legs. Although there is a leather version available, pictured is the model with a pea green fabric base. The brightly pattern 1960s-esque cushion comes courtesy of Andrew Martin. Put this next to your sofa and you'll be sitting pretty.

The stool costs £499.

Industriel furniture collection at Lavender and Sage

Industriel bookcase

If you're looking for some new furniture with a more industrial feel, you may want to take a look at the Industriel collection, new in at Lavender and Sage

The collection looks like it has been taken from a workshop and features a desk, a circular stool and the bookcase pictured, all made from oak and metal. The material has been treated to give it a used feel (so you can pretend it's vintage, rather than purchased from the web): the wood has been patinated and the metal has been greyed and aged.

A set of two stools costs £170, while the desk is £325 and the bookcase is £425.

Limited edition Quilts stool at the V&A

Quilts

The V&A is currently hosting its Quilts 1700 – 2010 exhibition and as with most exhibitions, offering a selection of associated merchandise too. Which includes this rather smart limited edition Quilts stool.

The shape is very much early 20th century (think Alvar Aalto's Stool 60), with the design on the birch veneer top adapted from a patchwork coverlet of printed cotton and linen with appliqué and embroidery, dating from the early part of the 19th century. Just in case you were wondering.

That top is supported by metal legs and the whole thing is being sold as a limited edition, although it's not clear just how limited it is. Reasonably priced though at £50.
