Audrey and Marilyn storage boxes

Audrey box

From Audrey screens and rugs to Marilyn room dividers to cushions, I've lost track of the number of products that utilize the glamour and popularity of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Here their style is applied to a very practical product: storage boxes

Both boxes use one of each actresses' most iconic films for inspiration. In the case of Audrey, it's Breakfast at Tiffany's, while the Marilyn box uses images from The Seven Year Itch. So, even if what you put in them is dull, the outside will still look chic.

The boxes are self-assembly and come in two sizes: 32 x 40cm (width by depth) at £11 and 40 x 50cm for £13.

Op Art style glass storage jar from Sabichi

Sabichi storage

Many retro kitchens seem to focus on the 1950s diner look. So it's refreshing to see this Op Art style storage jar, produced by Sabichi

The black and white design of disappearing circles could have stepped straight out of the 60s. And, as well as being stylish, it's practical too. Made of glass, it holds 0.7 litres of whatever you'd like to put in it! If you like this design, they produce a slightly larger jar also with a black and white geometric design.

This jar costs a very reasonable £9.99.

Next apple storage set

Apple uncropped

Here are more goodies from Next who have come up trumps in their latest kitchen collection. Following on from the apple memo board featured earlier in the week, here's a similarly fruity storage set. The five piece set has containers for keeping all your kitchen essentials, from bread to biscuits. Each has a white finish with a repeated apple motif and a red lid to match the plain lettering. The simple design means the set could fit easily into a retro-inspired kitchen.

The set costs £32.
