Petal Coffee Table from Made

Black_1_1

The Petal Coffee Table has a distinctive retro design, with a table top made up of nine curved squares, but what is perhaps more unusual about the product is the way that it is being sold.

It is available to buy through the website Made who specialise in offering cheaper versions of designs available elsewhere. They aim “revolutionise the furniture retail market” and describe themselves as “idealists” and “children of the revolution”, which made me smile (and left me with the T-Rex song in my head for the rest of the day). They are able to do this by producing the items in batches, so you only have a limited period to buy each one. The deadline for orders for the square Petal Coffee Table is just four days away, so you’ll need to move quickly to benefit from the reduction in cost from £389 to £149.

Made also its visitors to decide which designs will go into production in the future by voting from a selection on its website, so even if you don’t want to buy the Petal Table, it might be worth seeing if they have anything you would like to see made real.

Place your order for the Petal Table at Made before time runs out.

eBay watch: Space age Artemide Bacco Bar by Sergio Mazza

Art_bar

A great piece of 1960s space age design – and this Artemide Bacco Bar by Sergio Mazza is available for a tasty price right now.

Produced by Artemide from 1967 into the early 70s, it's a very distinctive design, made of moulded ABS plastic, set on casters, and with an inset glass top. There's even room for your bottles at the side.

Described as being in 'good overall condition', with some surface wear and marks down to age, it's up now at £24.99. For an obscure design of that era, it's a bargain.

Skipper coffee table from Benchmark

Skipper_coffee_1

Stylish and functional is the great combination offered by this Skipper coffee table from Benchmark

It's a contemporary design, from the hands of Terence Conran no less, but would look good fitting in with a 1950s/60s style. That feel is enhanced by the combination of the oak table top and the powder coated steel storage rack underneath. Add to that the unusual shape and it looks like a pretty good furniture investment.

The table costs £745.

Ercol’s 90th anniversary tri-colour nest of tables

Ercol_colour

We actually featured the standard set some time ago, but Ercol has now produced a special 90th anniversary edition of its nest of tables with added colour.

It's still the same midcentury classic, a 1956 design from company founder Lucian Ercolani. Indeed, this edition celebrates 90 years since Ercolani set up the company. For that milestone, the tables comes as the tri-colour edition, specifically the three colours you can see above that cover the elm seat and angled beech legs.

If you want the set, £525 secures the three limited edition tables.
