What's new pussycat? Well, for one thing, this adorable Siamese Cat Brooch from Tatty Devine.
The design of our little feline friend here was based on ceramic cats that were seen adorning mantlepieces the 60s & 70s. The cream and caramel perspex retro kitty features intricate brown speckles in all the right places and a handsome blue ribbon collar to match its pretty blue eyes. Purrfect.
Available in two other colours. £54 from Tatty Devine. See the website for more details.
Susanna Heron for Tatty Devine
Tatty Devine have teamed up with artist Susanna Heron to mark the Electrum Gallery's 40th anniversary exhibition 'Past, Present & Future', which celebrates jewellery design of the 1970s.
Susanna pioneered the New Jewellery movement of the late 70s and early 80s, a radical design phenomena lead by British artists. Her work was only available in cutting edge galleries and high end department stores of the day and today the originals grace the archives of the Crafts Council. The Perspex Multiples project was first produced by Susanna in 1976 in the same workshop & using the same materials used by Tatty Devine today.
Perspex Multiples comes as a signed box set in a limited run of 25 and does not come cheap. The set is available in colour or white for £600 from Tatty Devine's website.
Tatty Devine Royal Wedding Cameo Pendant
The avalanche of royal wedding themed products has surely reached it's zenith with only a few days to go until the event. Tatty Devine's Wedding Cameo Pendant is a standout piece for marking the event with a rare subtlety.
Pale toffee silhouettes of the happy couple stand in relief on a peach background mounted on matt gold perspex; a great modern take on a traditional Victorian fashion.
The beauty of the pendant is that it's not instantly recognisable as a wedding souvenir – only the date inscribed on the back reveals the identity of the two figures and the occasion it commemorates.
The pendant costs £33 from Tatty Devine here.
