Long Distance Love Plate

5530435273333_Pink_l1

Finally it seems that Urban Outfitters in the UK is expanding its homeware section and whilst it still has someway to go before it is as good as its USA counterpart, little gems like the Long Distance Love Plate make it worth visiting.

The ceramic plate features illustrations of various old-fashioned telephone styles Many look like traditional Bakelite phones, some look like the Princess phone, although sadly none are Scaniphones or Trimphones, my preferred choice of retro telephony.

The plate measures 22cm in diameter, is microwave and dishwasher safe and costs £6 from Urban Outfitters.

Varsity Bomber Jacket from Urban Outfitters

Varsityjacket

While concentrating on the myriad styles of fifties fashion for women, it's often easy to forget the appeal of their male counterparts. With the beginnings of truly American frat style taking hold in the fifties and sixties, many lasting pieces of truly American imagery came to the fore.

This Varsity Bomber from Urban Outfitters is a great interpretation of the style, with a simple and classic re-imagining for womenswear. With structure provided on the cuffs, hem and collar by contrasting black and white, the red wine shade stays rich, despite the casual cut.

It's available now from Urban Outfitters for £75.

David Weidman at Urban Outfitters

Weidman

A while ago, we showed you some of David Weidman 1970s prints. If you liked the style of those but the price was slightly out of your reach, you'll be interested in knowing his work has been used as part of a small collection for American Urban Outfitters

Weidman is best known for his work in the late 1950s and 60s from which this collection is drawn. It currently includes two pieces of wall art and a cushion, each featuring a distinctively Weidman style artwork. Pictured is the Bird Tree wall art, screen-printed onto canvas. The other designs are avian themed too: a bird is reproduced on the cushion, while the other piece of wall art features a caged owl.

Sadly the items can't be shipped internationally but, if you happen to be in the US, this piece will set you back $48.
