V&A and Liberty Art Trays

107782
You would be forgiven for thinking the print on this V&A and Liberty Art Tray comes from the middle of the last century. In fact, it dates from much further back than that – 1797 to be precise.

The V&A Shop and Liberty Art Fabrics have collaborated on a limited edition collection o f18 printed cottons, featuring designs from quilts in the V&A’s collection. The fabric designs have now been put onto a range of different shaped and sized trays.

The trays cost between £18 and £35 from the V&A Shop.

Retro Camera Photo Album from the V&A Shop

108687 These days it's easy to amass hundreds of photographs digitally and not have a single one exist in print. If you're a compulsive digital snapper who rarely prints, this Retro Camera Photo Album might just persuade you to commit your work to paper.

The album measures 10 x 16cm and can hold 36 photographs in clear plastic sleeves with black backing inside. It has a magnetic clasp and carry strap and the old-school camera styling makes it perfect for housing all those retro-effect shots you've taken on your iphone.

It costs £12 and is available from the V&A Museum shop, either in person or online here.

V&A Pattern books: Pop Patterns

Pop patterns
Inspired by bright, colourful and fun patterns? We advise checking out Pop Patterns, the latest in the V&A Pattern series which we featured on its launch a couple of years ago.

Like those books, it features 65 different patterns drawn from the archives of the V&A, alongside an introduction from one of the museum's curators. This collection, introduced by Oriole Cullen, pulls together images from the 1960s and early 70s that show the influence of Pop Art on British wallpaper and fabric design. There are patterns by the likes of Mr Freedom, The Fool and Zandra Rhodes and, my personal favourite, a dress fabric called 'Haircut? Yes Please' by Marc Foster and Michael Yates which features illustrations of every kind of men's haircuts, ranging from the classic crewcut to the forward brush and flat top.

Packed full of unusual imagery, the book is priced £7.99, but is currently available for £6.39 on Amazon

1950s ‘Navy Daisy and Rose’ dress

Floraldressa
The 'Navy Daisy and Rose' dress has been made exclusively for the V&A and is about as authentic as you can get without jumping in a time machine and going back 50 years to buy a similar outfit.

The dress has been adapted from a 1950s fabric designed for Horrockses Fashions, one of the most respected ready-to-wear labels of the late 1940s and 1950s.  The shape of the dress was developed from an original 1950s day dress in the V&A's archives and it has a fitted waist and bodice.

Along with it's exclusivity comes a price tag of £95, but you're paying for a true recreation of beauty, in 100% cotton. But yours online.

Conran Fabric archive at Surface View

Whitehead

Looking for some great 1950s and 1960s patterns for your walls? Take a look at the newly launched Conran Fabric archive collection at Surface View.

The collection uses designs by Terence Conran and his contemporaries drawn from the archives at the V&A. The example pictured shows a classic slice of Fifties style and was designed by Conran for David Whitehead Ltd in 1952 (you may remember the oven glove we featured last week based on a design produced by the same company). The collection is based around eight different designs from the Fifties and Sixties, catering to all design tastes.

The designs are available on print or canvas and prices vary dependant on size and format, starting at £120 for a 800 x 1000mm print.
