Capiz mobile from Habitat

Capiz
Add a colourful retro touch to a room with this Capiz mobile from Habitat.

The mobile is made from hanging shells, and is similar in looks to Verner Panton's fun lamp which was designed in 1964. While that lamp relies on the neutral shade of the shell to add to its glow, this one is multi-coloured to give it more of a tropical look. No doubt the distinctive tinkling sound of the shells will also be present in the mobile.

The mobile is currently reduced to £22.50.

Ikea 365+ Verner Panton-inspired Brasa table, floor and ceiling lamps

Ikea1

What are you thinking? Verner Panton's Panthella lamp? Or maybe the designer's Flowerpot lighting? The Ikea 365+ Brasa table, floor and ceiling lamps wouldn't look out of place sat next to either design.

But this is no Panton design, it's the work of A Nilsson, H Preutz and T Eliasson for Ikea and available in three colour options (red, black and white). The floor lamp is made of steel, with a pigmented powder coating, with a dimmer function and a plastic inner casing to prevent glare.

The pendant light is also made of steel, with a pigmented epoxy powder coating, while the table lamp has the same construction, again with that dimmer switch found on the floor version. You can see the table lamp over the page, with more details on the Ikea site. Prices are £90.89 for the floor light, with the ceiling light at £45.95 and table lamp selling for £60.26.

1970s Verner Panton 123 Lounge Chairs reissued by VerPan

Pan1

Originally dating back to 1973, two versions of the Verner Panton 123 Lounge Chairs have been reissued.

It's been off the reissue market since 1989 (we featured an eBay find of one some time back), but is now back in both the standard (pictured over the page) and the De Luxe above. The difference is obviously the finish, with both of these space age classics offering a choice of fabric or leather upper and brushed aluminium bases. The De Luxe has that buttoned finish, as you can see.

Prices based on finish, but start at £800. A dining chair version is alas available with a slightly different shape from £595.

eBay watch: Verner Panton Peacock Chair – Habitat limited reissue

Panton

Yes, I know we've featured this before, but the Habitat reissue of the Verner Panton Peacock Chair rarely comes up, so if well worth another mention.

If you missed it last time we featured it, the Peacock Chair dates back to 1969, with a design inspired by a peacock's tail. It's a stunning, attention-grabbing design, even as a reissue.

This reissue dates from 1999, when it was reissued in limited numbers and discontinued in less than a year. 12 years on and it has become a collector's piece in its own right. Condition is described as 'good' and has been 'carefully looked after'. Want it? Bidding is currently at £150.

eBay watch: Habitat reissue of the 1960s Verner Panton Peacock Chair

Peacock

In its day, the Verner Panton Peacock Chair was a stunning and eye-catching design, so much so that Habitat reissued the chair for a very short period in the 1990s. It's one of those reissues that you'll find on eBay right now.

Dating back to 1969, the chair has the look of a peacock's fan-like tail, with a galvanised white metal frame hosting seven red circular wool cushions. It's a space age classic, guaranteed to set off any room.

According to the seller, the condition is 'very good', although the cushions might need a dry clean from general wear. £199 is both the starting and current price for it, much less than the Habitat reissue cost at the time.
