Vyconic Turntable Clocks

Il_570xN_192098712
Vyconic specialises in refurbishing old record players to create Turntable Clocks.

The old pieces of equipment have been re-painted with bright colours, a classic piece of vinyl placed on the turntable and clock mechanism added, to create a truly distinctive piece. I’m presuming that the turntables were beyond repair and the vinyl scratched, otherwise it might be seen as a waste. Prices range from £50 to over £100 depending on the turntable used.

Buy them online from the Vyconic store on Etsy.

eBay watch: 1950s Marconiphone valve-based portable record player in ‘mint’ condition

Marc1

A long title, but hopefully it tells you more or less everything about this Marconiphone portable record player currently on eBay.

It's a stunning thing, described by the seller as a 'timeworn' and in 'as new' condition – over 50 years on, that's something. The case is in a two-tone pastel design, while the deck plays 16, 33, 45 and 78 vinyl through its valve-based audio system.

Even as a piece of design, it's worth mentioning, but it's a practical item too for vinyl lovers. See a shot of it closed up over the page, with the price currently at a bargain £29.99.

eBay watch: RFT Bruns Joker 1970s portable record player

Joker

We've featured a few portable record players in the past, but this RFT Bruns Joker portable record player is a model we've not seen before.

A German mains-operated player from the 1970s, it plays 33 and 45rpm records, pumping out that sound via the two matching stereo speakers. It's also in 'very good' condition, aside from the odd age-related mark and works perfectly.

All of which makes the current £1 price tag something of a bargain.

eBay watch: 1970s Thorn Ultra stereogram in rosewood

Ultra

We have sung the praises of the humble stereogram or radiogram in the past, but there are certainly good and bad examples amongst the many that hit eBay. This Thorn Ultra stereogram in rosewood is one of the better examples.

That exterior alone must have made it a pricey affair 'back in the day' – looking not unlike a piece of Merrow Associates design. Inside you get three-band radio and I suspect, a decent deck – although the seller doesn't give too much detail on it.

Condition is described as 'very good' (bit check the images on the site to make sure) and the price is a Buy It Now of £125. The seller is also looking for offers, so you might get it cheaper.

Vinyl chopping board

Chopping board
As well as coasters, book-ends, Christmas tree decorations and actually listening to the stuff, it seems there's another vinyl-inspired item available for the home: this vinyl chopping board.

Yes, this board comes in the shape of a traditional vinyl record. Rather than having the song title and artist on the label, it's decorated with a nice, bright picture of a tomato instead. You won't be able to put it on a turntable but it's sure to inspire hours of music relating pun fun as you are chopping up your onions,

This slice of kitchen fun costs £15.

eBay watch: 1950s Dansette record player

Dansette

Not a great deal of detail offered about this 1950s Dansette record player, but enough to know it's a very good example for not a lot of money.

According to the seller, the Dansette is in 'first class order' and 'works perfectly'. It also shows no signs of wear both inside and out and comes with the original inspection tab and guarantee medallion on the handle, still fresh over 50 years on.

All of which makes this a steal right now at just £5.
