Plate wallpaper

Collector of vintage ceramics? This plate wallpaper by Studio Ditte is sure to appeal, as it's covered with images of antique porcelain plates. It's probably much easier to put up than trying to hang and arrange your own collection.

The paper comes in rolls of six meters, with a pattern repeat of three metres.

However, there's a designer price tag attached to this look as it costs £120 a roll.

Go Go Retro wallpaper by Harlequin

Go Go Retro wallpaper

Harlequin's Go Go Retro wallpaper not only has a brilliant name but also is a charming design, ideal for a kids room.

The paper features line drawing illustrations of retro vehicles such as a Vespa, Camper Van and a Beetle. Hopefully it should inspire some good alternatives to the traditional children's ambition of being a train driver. The simple design means it shouldn't look too overwhelming in a room as well.

The paper costs £25 a roll.

Deco-inspired Alto wallpaper at Urban Outfitters

Nouveau paper

Here's a Art Deco-inspired design updated for the twenty-first century with the Alto wallpaper from Urban Outfitters

The design, from a company called Temparer, uses a distinctive Deco pattern, which is reproduced in a bright red colour against powder blue. The actual definition of wallpaper has been updated too: it comes with self-adhesive backing to make it easy to apply and also to take down when you get a bit bored of it.

The paper comes in rolls of 10m long for £78 each.

New wallpapers from Jonathan Adler

JA wallpapers

The latest collection of wallpapers from Jonathan Adler is every bit as striking and colourful as you'd expect of the designer.

The new designs encompass a range of styles – all distinctively retro in feel. Like his previous collections, the geometric floral pattern of the paper on the left echoes the style of David Hicks. Meanwhile, the design on the right – part of his range for kids – is reminiscent of Alexander Girard's La Fonda design.

Both papers cost $195 for a 'jumbo' roll: with that price (and with those bright colours), they're perhaps something to limit to a feature wall.

Damping wallpaper from Studio Nommo

Dampingnommo

Not so long ago we featured the kitsch Kit wallpaper by Studio Nommo, with its retro food packaging pattern. Here's another equally off-the-wall design from the same people, the Damping wallpaper

The wallpaper has a montage effect illustration, showing a couple of cheery people and a whole load of retro technology – from a TV and a phone to a computer and camera. In fact, its montage effect and its characters' pride in consumer goods creates an effect not dissimilar to Richard Hamilton's famous 'Just what is it that makes today's homes so different, so appealing' collage.

Its design certainly makes it different from the average wallpaper and this is reflected in the price of 65 euros per square metre.
