Knitted Retro Vehicles

Knittedscooter

Clever knitwear designer Leah Sutton has created a pattern booklet called “Ali’s Wheels” that details how to knit yourself a Vespa just like the one pictured above.

The booklet also includes patterns for a Camper Van and a VW Beetle, all of which can be made using 4 ply cotton yarn. The pattern book can be downloaded from Leah’s website on payment of £3.80.

For non-knitters, she also has an Etsy shop where you can buy ready made knitted items, which currently includes the Vespa in pink, green or grey (all priced $36) and a Camper Van (priced $60).

Tito Wooden Truck

Titotruck

Habitat has a great collection of wooden vehicles in its toy section, featuring a London bus, taxi and ice cream van, but it was the Tito Wooden Truck that particularly caught my attention with its psychedelic paintwork.

It is being described as an “Indian truck” but it reminded me of the Merry Panksters’ bus and looks the perfect vehicle for imaginary road trips. It is supplied with two people figures, who look rather like hippies too. It is designed by Dylan Preeth and costs £29.

Visit the Habitat website for further details and store locations.
