Planet Robot – limited edition vintage robots

50s_robot
If you are into vintage toy robots, you should take a look at Planet Robot, a site that specialises in reproducing classic robot designs from years gone by.

You have to be a member to purchase a robot, but once you are, you get the option to buy one of the limited pieces if you’re quick off the mark. Currently up for grabs is this Space Explorer robot. It’s a Japanese design, produced by Yonezawa in the 1950s and is available with a hammer finish in grey or blue, just like the original.

The limited run of this one is 200 units, so if you want one, get moving. It retails for between $93 and $103 (around £47 – £52).

Corgi’s limited edition Beatles Mini

Corgi_beatles_mini_1  Toy car maker Corgi is raiding the corporate cupboards and selling off its remaining stock of limited edition miniature vehicles on eBay – including this rather smart limited edition Beatles Mini.

It dates back to 2000 (although Corgi has been making Beatles models since 1965, when it introducec the die-cast Yellow Submarine). This one was part of a series of vehicles "owned, used and associated with the Fab Four", though I”m not sure which specific category this falls into. Each model will have a letter of authenticity to say they were sold as part of the Corgi auction – giving it an extra bit of exclusivity.

There’s nine available and bidding is currently at £60.

Original Space Hopper returns

Spacehopper_2
We covered Oddballs last year, a modern update to the Space Hopper. But if you look around, you can pick up an original Space Hopper.

Relive your childhood with a classic. The same goofy, badly-drawn face, the same ridged handles and the same bright orange colour.

The modern version comes with a foot pump to fill with air and unlike the 70s, you’re likely to be the only one bouncing down the street on one today. You can pick one up for £9.99.

Pacman Ghost crochet hat and scarf set

Pacman_hat_scarf
The weather’s cold – and if you’re a vintage gaming fan, there’s only one thing to buy – the Pacman Ghost crochet hat and scarf set.

All individually-made by Urban Princess and sold via Etsy, the crochet hat is one-size and the multi-coloured scarf features ghosts with moving eyes.

Not the cheapest hat and scarf set – the hat retails for $40 (around £22) and the scarf $150 (around £80), but it’s almost certain that you’ll be only one on the bus in the morning wearing one.

Nintendo NES Controller Wallet

Nintendo_wallet
One for the gaming geeks and in particular retro gaming geeks – the Nintendo NES Controller Wallet.

A description isn’t really necessary – this is a canvas wallet with a replica image of an original Nintendo controller sewn on the front, there’s not much else to say.

However, I will mention that it’s officially licensed, it has pockets for credit cards and photo ID and costs just $10 (just over £5). And if you bought the Nintendo NES Power Mints, the Nintendo NES alarm clock or the Nintendo Mushroom Scarf, this is definitely for you.
