Although best known for his textiles, these Alexander Girard Wooden Dolls are a symbol of his real passion, being limited edition replicas of Dolls he created for his own home.

They’re inspired by his love for the popular art of South America, Asia and East Europe. Half decorative element, half toy, there’s six models available, each made of solid firwood and with a hand painted finish. Each Doll also comes with a brochure and in a printed wooden box.

The upmarket Rubik’s Cube

Rubiks_chrome
Remember the fun you had as a kid with a Rubik’s Cube? Well, it’s back – but this time in a version tailored for grown-ups.

The Zontik Rubik’s Cube does everything the old one did, but this one is made of solid chrome. And if that’s not enough, all the sides are inlaid leather. It’ll certainly look cool sat on your coffee table, but whether it’s worth the $155 (£80) price tag is another matter.

Not recommended for small children because of the button eyes and safety pins, but ideal for us big kids at $25 (around £14) each.
