Hold Tight collection from Mini Moderns

Holdorangepaper

A new range from Mini Moderns is always a cause for celebration and their Hold Tight collection is no exception. The range has been produced for London Transport Museum, and is suitably transport themed. Specifically, it's based on bus tickets. The wallpaper pictured is based on a collection of vintage bus tickets and is available in a choice of three different colourways. Meanwhile, a canvas bag design uses a motif made by working an old Gibson ticketing machine.

As well as those two products, the range also includes a tea towel and a cushion. Prices start at £8 for the tea towel, with the wallpaper costing £45 a roll.

Bell Tents from www.belltent.co.uk

4m_bell_ma
There's no question that the proliferation of summer festivals has taken the fine art of camping to a whole new audience. Most of us are used to a modern tent which can be put up in minutes but there's a lot to be said for the traditional Bell Tent too.

Bell tents require a bit more effort to put up; they have a separate ground sheet and you need to peg out the canvas to make the shape of the tent rather than just inserting the poles to form a skeleton as you do with most tents these days. One key advantage is that the canvas is cotton and therefore breathable, so you don't get that nasty sweaty feeling when you wake up on a sunny morning – and if it gets really hot you can roll up the tent walls to allow a breeze in.

Tents in varying sizes are available from www.belltent.co.uk, starting at £319 and if you're serious about camping you can buy all sorts of extras too – from stoves and mattresses to sheepskin rugs and tea-light chandeliers.

Grand Bain French beach towel set

Grand bain
If you wanted to echo the glamour of F. Scott or Zelda Fitzgerald and escape to the French Riveria, surely this Grand Bain French beach towel set would need to make it into your suitcase?

The terry towel captures some of the style of that period of holidaying and is decorated with a Deco-style woman plunging into a pool of water. The towel comes in its own carry bag, so even if you're only heading down to your local swimming pool the glamour can come with you.

The towel set costs £35.

Fancy a Retro To Go weekend to the Midland in Morecambe?

Midland

Ok, we did talk about doing a Retro To Go weekend, but never got round to sorting it out. Well, after some discussions and a reconnaissance mission to the town this weekend, we are considering a Retro To Go weekend event in Morecambe.

Aside from the (severely) faded glamour of the place itself (a great place for charity shopping, vintage clothing and vintage books), we're looking at trying to book the art deco Midland Hotel, recently renovated by Urban Splash and a stunning mix of the old and the new.

We have ideas to keep you busy all weekend, but before we start planning anything, we want to know if people would be interested. Feedback across any of our social networks, the site and 'old school' email. Just let us know and we can start looking at this seriously.
