Retro retreat: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater in Pennsylvania, USA

Falling

It's an icon of American architecture and one of the most famous residential houses in the world – and you can now stay in Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater.

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright  for Edgar J. Kaufmann senior back in 1934, the house in rural south west Pennsylvania is a stunning architectural feat – built partly over a waterfall, it uses locally quarried stones and houses an active stream, with cantilevered terraces intended to make you feel at one with the nature all around.

Las Vegas Shower Curtain

Las-vegas-shower-curtains

This Las Vegas shower curtain is another one in the long lines of products and artwork to
draw inspiration from Betty Willis' 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign.
Willis never copyrighted her design for the sign, which was erected in 1959,
contributing something to the ubiquity of it on souvenirs and its use by people
trying to evoke the glamour of the period.

How glamorous a shower curtain can ever be is up for debate but
the sign looks pretty stylish as a black and white image. It's one of several
shower curtain designs being stocked at Rockett St George which is also selling
images from Paris, Venice, London and Brooklyn. Each curtain costs
£30.

John Richardson’s maps from Caught by the River

Caught by the river prints

You may be aware of the book Caught by the River, an anthology of thoughts about water including pieces from the like of Irvine Welsh, Jon Savage, Bill Drummond and Edwyn Collins. The book also included some beautiful linocut 'maps' by John Richardson which are now being released as prints.

The prints more than stand up on their own merit and show the journey down several rivers: the River Lea and the Lower Thames pictured, as well as the River Cary, River Coquet, River Ogmore, River Wandle and Upper Dorset Stour. They fit perfectly into the mood for rediscovering the British countryside even if, as in the case of the River Wandle, the city is shown encroaching onto the landscape. Each print costs £80.
