Android Radar and Sonic Radar 70s-style watches

Android

Quirky 70s-style watches that might be a little cheaper than you imagine – the Android Radar and Sonic Radar.

Both are available in a variety of colour schemes, with the Radar (to the left) packing a Miyota 2035 Japanese movement, hours, minutes and seconds across two time zones, a hardened mineral face and a leather strap. The Sonic Radar has the same movement, a display showing hours, minutes and seconds, water resistance to 30m and a stainless steel strap.

You can pick both up online, the Radar selling for $89 (£53), the Sonic Radar retailing for $115 (£69).

Retro Minnie Mouse Watch

5769461313075_Red_l1

This Minnie Mouse Watch takes me back to my childhood, when I was the proud owner of a very similar timepiece.

The watch has a red strap and the time is told by Minnie’s oversized hands. It perhaps isn’t the height of style as it was in my school days, but it still retains a certain retro charm. There is also a Mickey watch with a brown strap and a gold face with an imprint of Mickey’s head.

The Minnie watch costs £30 from Urban Outfitters.

Alessi retro-styled Daytimer digital watch by Will Alsop

Daytimer1

A watch that's as retro as it is futuristic – the Alessi Daytimer digital watch by Will Alsop.

Very much the original 70s/80s digital, but this Seiko-backed timepiece uses a very modern 3D-like design for the shell and an equally contemporary OLED screen to offer up the time and date, along with nine graphic displays that show when you don't need the time.

Both the strap and case are made of polyurethane, with an acrylic glass screen, selling in various colours for £79. Check out another shot of the Daytimer over the page.

Bamford offers the Tag Heuer Monaco Bespoke watch

Bamford_tag

It's one of the most famous watches ever made and will be forever associated with Steve McQueen, but you can now pick up a Tag Heuer Monaco watch that's exclusive to you, using the online Bespoke service at Bamford.

It's still the watch made famous by McQueen in the Le Mans movie, the world's first square-cased chronograph and the first watch with a microrotor for automatic rewinding. But you can now customise just about every detail of this 40-year-old watch online, including every detail on the dial and the strap stitching to suit your own colour tastes. Better still, you can do it all online for free to test all the different colour combinations.

But once you get to the checkout, it's far from free – around £5,000, no matter what you choose.

Vestal Datamat 80s-style calculator watch

Vestal

It's a modern timepiece, but slap the Vestal Datamat calculator watch on your wrist and it will look every bit like a relic from the 1980s.

Retro colours schemes and some nice retro detailing – even the font used is reminiscent of the A Team! Outside of that you'll find an LCD display with 16-button keypad for doing your maths basics, all houses on a polyurethane band.

Watchismo is selling them in three colour options, yours for $59, which is around £35.
