Summer heels with retro style from New Look

New_look

New Look continues to bring us yet more great looking shoes at extremely affordable prices. If you’re looking for some summer heels that are reliable and retro then look no further.

These are just a few of the wide selection, with some rockabilly influence and a few pinup style copies available too. Some styles are only available in stores, with a particular floral rockabilly pair that caught my eye in the Manchester branch this week.

These pairs are available from around £20 online or in the shops.

Retro print summer dress by Ichi at Oli

34g001olip

Summer is the best time to don some fantastic prints and there’s plenty around to take your pick from.

This great Ichi print dress at Oli is perfect for the sunshine. With a print fit for seventies curtains (in a good way) and a slightly 60s dolly shape, it’s a mixmatch of retro influences that works brilliantly. Top that off with a great colour palette and you can’t go too far wrong.

Made from 100% cotton, this light and airy dress costs a wholly reasonable £35 from Oli’s catalogue or online.

Hexagonal clip box bag from Topshop

24c19stea_normal

Retro accessories have been cropping up in increasing numbers of high street fashion shops of late, and they just keep coming.

With a welcome departure from over-selling the 60s, Topshop have spread their wings further into vintage inspiration with this distinctly 20s-style clip box bag. The art deco lines are modernised somewhat by the teal colour and an optional chain strap.

This one’s faux leather and suede which means an affordable price tag of just £25.

Lonsdale bag by Notting Hill Design

376_1_2_261

Big handbags go in and out of fashion like nobody’s business, but a perennial favourite is the seventies style oversized handbag.

Structured in heavy looking leather, it might not be girly, but it does mean business. This Notting Hill Design Lonsdale bag is a great example, especially in this particularly 70s shade of orange. Handcrafted in Italy from real leather and patent, this is one of those bags to last a lifetime.

The price tag should come as no surprise in that case, at £625 from Anedoti online.

Retro babydoll summer top from Free People

5112400027633_ivory_m

Summer is the perfect time to get a little bit Woodstock in your retro tastes, and the perfect way to imagine you’re lounging in the American sunshine is a little bit of hippie folk.

This camisole top from Free People at Urban Outfitters is a cute and subtle example. If you’re not quite prepared to go all out psychedelic this babydoll shape and embroidered neckline will do the trick nicely.

Available in four colours, this ivory version is my personal favourite. It’ll cost you £35.

It’s estimated at between £300 – £500, although it’s currently at just £30 – so a potential bargain. If that’s not your thing, browse the entire listings via the link below.
