Penguin book covers are often as lauded as the books inside them. Arthur Buxton joins the many designers to be inspired by them with his Penguin Science Fiction Book Covers Print.
Each timeline represents the cover designs in chronological order, showing the five most prominent colours in the design proportionally and the length corresponding to the time in print. The books illustrated are classics – and in most cases just calling them science fiction may be doing them a disservice – books include Nineteen Eighty Four, Brave New World, Clockwork Orange, Time Machine and The Day of the Triffids. A limited edition run of 50 A2 prints are available for £40.
