Definitely my favourite trainers of the moment are these Onitsuka Tiger Nippon 60 trainers, which, as the name suggests, date back to 1960.
Reissued by the company for 2007, they were designed for the Japanese delegation at the Olympics in Rome for that year. They feature a contrasting white stripe on the side and front, coupled with the "sun" logo on the side.
Lightweight, available in a number of colours, they’re certainly worth a close look if you fancy something like a bowling shoe. They retail for £75.
I looked on their website but couldn’t find these, maybe they’re store only…..
Hi Simon (and others who have emailed about these trainers),
I only got the details for these through the other day from the Onitsuka press office. They’re part of the spring/summer collection – so they might not yet be on sale.
I’d say keep checking back with the website as they’ll be there soon – or if you’re lucky enough to be near a store, try there.
Cheers,
Dave
These are exceedingly hard to find, especially here in the US… I managed to score a size US 14/EU 49 in the blue with red sun disc. I’d prefer a US 13/EU 48; if anyone out there knows of any (or wants to trade) let me know…
Only just come across this site, if there is enough genuine interest I may be able to get hold of ONITSUKA TIGER Nippon blue, unfortunately not all sizes available.
I will approach the supplier if enough interest as we have to order in bulk.
