Holland is our next stop for our Retro Rooms feature and the home of Fred de Groot.
We don’t know much about Fred and his home in Sneek (yes, there is such a place), but we do know he is an avid collector of classic/vintage design – and these photos (see over onto the next page for more) are our evidence.
If you have any photos of your home, your collection or a single room, we always like to hear from you. Contact us at the address on this page with your photos and details and we will get them online as soon as we can.
Oops, i gave to little detail about myself 😉
Like the presentation on the site! Thanx for putting me online.
I am a proff. photographer and like to collect retro (design) items.
By the way: In 2004 Sneek was listed in the top 5 of best watersport holiday resorts in the world according to the BBC. Sneek has many canals and lakes in the surroundings. It’s great to live here, just 100k from Amsterdam and 60k from Groningen, my favorite city.
In the pics you see the Panton Moon lamp, Arne Jacobsen Royal lamp and furniture from Gispen, Raymond Loewy, Rietveld, Pastoe and WéBé, also you see a fully restored MFB (Motional feedback) speaker manufactured bij Philips in the early 80’s.. This speaker carries it’s own amplifier. I use it with 2 more in a 5.0 hifi-system. For surround speakers i use the ITT Korona ballspeakers produced in the seventies (1 is visable hanging on the ceiling in 1 of the pics).
It’s a shame i cannot put all the stuff i have collected in my rooms, there would be no space left. When i re-decorate i will sent new pics to Retro to Go! 🙂
Thanx again!
