A guitar designed by Eero Aarnio? Yes, it’s true – and you can buy the Copacabana Guitar online.
The Copacabana Guitar is a fairly modern design with its roots in the past. It’s the brainchild of Antti J. Kallio, who approached Eero Aarnio after seeing the designer’s Copacabana Table, believing it had the look of a Bo Diddley-style guitar body. A couple of weeks later, Aarnio (with the help of Kallio) had reworked the design into a guitar, ready to go into production.
And now you can own one. It’s being produced handmade and to order by Finnish guitar maker Juha Lottonen with a Finnish aspen body, a Finnish Alder and bolted steel truss rod neck, chrome-plated tuners and bridge and for that final attention to detail, a truss rod cover and control plates that use the same fibreglass as the original Eero Aarnio Ballchair and Pastilchair.
Choose from colours including the original Copacabana red, plus yellow, orange, green, black and white, all priced at 6,649 Euros including VAT – with a 40 per cent pre-payment required prior to delivery.

It’s cool except for the ugly part.
