Allegedly, these are still in production – but I’ve looked high and low and have yet to find a retailer for a brand new Olivetti Valentine typewriter.
Shame really, as this 1969 design classic by Ettore Sottsass would add instant cool to any desk. Described as the iPod of its generation, the Valentine was as much about fashion as functionality, slimming down to fit in its own matching case, so you could type as and when the mood took you.
If you don’t have any luck finding one new, eBay is (as ever) on hand. Do a Euro search for affordable models, including the one pictured here, which seems to be in excellent and complete order, with a current high bid of around £16. Which in our book, is an absolute steal.
They definately are not still in production and I reckon your £16 bid rocketed to well over £100 for this. It took me so long to get this and you need to research what it actually is I feel. I love my Valentine.
I have one for sale and am trying to find the right place to sell. I want it to go to a good home where it will be cherished!
how much do you want for it?? i could give it a good home..
I am restoring a Olivetti Valentine and need the orange ribbon cover. Do you have any idea where I can buy one?
Thanks so much for your time.
My daughter is in college and writes for the newspaper and is very interested in this typewriter
