I’m guessing few of us will ever enter Downing Street by the front door, but at least we can all have a bang on the number 10 Downing Street door knocker.
Ok, it’s not the actual Downing Street knocker, but it’s pretty much identical to the one made back in 1780. Roullier White tracked down the West Midlands-based brass foundry that made the original, found that the company still owned the original mould and got it to knock out (sorry) a few more.
And you can buy one of these handmade accessories in solid brass (like the original – which is painted black) for £45. Surely a timeless design classic.
